The A62 is a major road in Northern England that runs between the two major cities of Manchester and Leeds. The road is approximately 40 miles (65 km) long. It runs north east from Manchester (beginning as Oldham Street and Oldham Road) through Failsworth and Oldham then Saddleworth before crossing the Pennines at Standedge into West Yorkshire. Deanhead Reservoir

Deanhead Reservoir is a reservoir near Scammonden, in the metropolitan district of Kirklees, West Yorkshire, England. It is named after Dean Head, the village that was mostly submerged during construction of the dam. During the 1995 drought, the outlines of the foundations were visible. Deanhead also is the name of a Pennine pass to the south of the reservoir, which carries the A640 from Huddersfield to Denshaw, following the course of a Roman road.

Moorside Edge

The Moorside Edge is at grid reference SE070154 just north of Slaithwaite and about 8 km west of Huddersfield in the Kirklees District of West Yorkshire. It is the steeply sloping area of moorland being the descent from the relatively flat summit of Pole Moor into the valley of the River Colne. Just above the edge itself is the Moorside Edge transmitting station.

Moorside Edge transmitting station was originally constructed in 1931 to radiate the BBC's "North Regional" (from May 17 on 626 kHz) and "National" programmes (from July 12 on 995 kHz). It has one of the most powerful mediumwave radio transmitters in Britain at 200 kW erp. Formed of two 158 metres steel lattice towers it is located just above Moorside Edge. Holme Moss is on a bearing of (168.17°, 11.56km) and Emley Moor is on a bearing of (99.41°, 15.4km).

Wessenden Valley

The Wessenden Valley is a moorland valley nestled amidst the Dark Peak, immediately south of the large village of Marsden in the English county of West Yorkshire. The valley was formed by retreating glaciers at the end of the last ice age, and continues to be cut by the Wessenden Brook, a tributary of the River Colne. The valley is occupied by four reservoirs, namely (from the top) Wessenden Head, Wessenden, Blakeley and Butterley reservoirs, the last being the largest.
