Red House Museum
Red House Museum is a historic house and museum in Gomersal, West Yorkshire, England. Red House was built by William Taylor in 1660, and the Taylor family owned it until 1920. The house had a number of famous visitors. One was Charlotte Brontë, who had been a pupil at Roe Head with Mary Taylor, the daughter of Joshua Taylor, a banker and wool merchant. Charlotte Brontë immortalised the family and the house in her novel Shirley.
M62 coach bombing
The M62 coach bombing happened on 4 February 1974 on the M62 motorway in northern England, when a Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) bomb exploded in a coach carrying off-duty British Armed Forces personnel and their family members. Twelve people (nine soldiers, three civilians) were killed by the bomb, which consisted of 25 pounds of high explosive hidden in a luggage locker on the coach.

Oakwell Hall is an Elizabethan manor house in the village of Birstall, West Yorkshire, England set in period gardens surrounded by 110 acres of country park. The builder was John Batt. A recarved stone dated 1583 probably indicates the date of construction. The estate had been purchased by his Halifax-born father, a receiver of rents to the Savile family, who resided at Howley Hall, in Batley. Oakwell Hall was immortalised in literature by Charlotte Brontë, in her novel Shirley.

Carlinghow is a district of Batley, West Yorkshire, England. It lies west of Batley Town Centre, and stretches up towards White Lee and Birstall, along Carlinghow Lane and Bradford Road. The name means the hill or burial mound of the "Witch", or "Hag", as in an old woman, probably a soothsayer. A 'Carle'[1 1] in Scots is a commoner, a husband or in a derogatory sense, a churl or male of low birth.
