Nettlestead Green
Nettlestead Green, like its near neighbour Nettlestead lies in the Medway valley SW of Maidstone in Kent. It has its own church, character village 17th century pub (The Hop Pole Inn) and a plant nursery (Wood Cottage Nursery). The Post Office recently closed. The railway station for Yalding is actually closer to Nettlestead Green than to its own village, which lies on the opposite side of the River Medway. It was here on 26 June 1944 that Warrant Officer R.A.

The John Brunt V.C. is a public house in Paddock Wood in Kent. Originally named The Kent Arms, on 3 September 1947 the pub was formally renamed John Brunt V.C. in honour of an English soldier, John Brunt, who won the Victoria Cross in the Second World War who spent his teenage years in the town. It is the only pub in England to be named after a Victoria Cross holder.

Church of St Thomas à Becket, Capel
The Church of St Thomas à Becket, Capel, is a redundant Anglican church in the village of Capel, Kent, England. It has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. Capel is located 4 miles east of Tonbridge, off the B2017 road. It is said that Thomas Becket preached either in the church, or under a yew tree in the churchyard.
Hartlake disaster
The Hartlake disaster was the death of 30 hop-pickers on 20 October 1853. The Hartlake bridge is a bridge over the river Medway in Golden Green of the parish of Hadlow, Kent. In the evening of 20 October a wagon was taking about 40 hop-pickers and their families back to their campsite. A horse tripped as it was crossing the side of the bridge, the wagon collided with the side, and the bridge collapsed into the river. The river was swollen in flood.
