Channel Tunnel
The Channel Tunnel (French: Le tunnel sous la Manche; also referred to as the Chunnel) is a 50.5-kilometre undersea rail tunnel linking Folkestone, Kent, in the United Kingdom with Coquelles, Pas-de-Calais, near Calais in northern France beneath the English Channel at the Strait of Dover. At its lowest point, it is 75 m deep.
Kent Battle of Britain Museum

It is privately operated and is the oldest museum dedicated to the Battle of Britain. Since opening in 1971, the museum has gained the support of a number of Battle of Britain pilots - many of whom have donated personal items to the museum.
Folkestone Castle
Folkestone Castle stood on a spur of the North Downs to the north of the town of Folkestone, Kent. This was Norman castle on a natural mound which was in existence in the late 11th and 12th centuries. It was excavated in 1878 by Augustus Pitt Rivers and this has been claimed to be the first excavation of a medieval site in Britain using scientific methods.
2007 Kent earthquake
The 2007 Kent earthquake was an earthquake that registered 4.3 on the Richter scale and struck south east Kent, England on 28 April 2007 at 07:18:12 UTC, at a shallow depth of 5.3 km. The worst affected area was the town of Folkestone, although the towns of Deal, Dover and Ashford were also affected. The tremors could be felt across much of Kent and south east England including as far as East Sussex, Essex and Suffolk as well as on the other side of the English Channel at Calais and Brussels.
Folkestone Downs
The Folkestone Downs are an area of chalk downland above Folkestone, where the eastern end of the North Downs escarpment meets the English Channel. The Downs are protected within the Folkestone to Etchinghill Escarpment SSSI due to their geological and biological interest.
RAF Hawkinge
RAF Hawkinge is a former Royal Air Force station located in Kent, near to the south coast and the closest airfield to the French coast. The airfield was used by both the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Air Force during its lifetime.
