Shepway
Shepway is a local government district in Kent, England. It includes the towns of Folkestone and Hythe and the Romney Marsh. It covers roughly the same area as the Lathe of Shepway, which contained the hundreds and liberties of Aloesbridge, Bircholt, Folkestone, Ham, Heane, Longport, Loningborough, Lydd, Newchurch, New Romney, Stouting, Street and Worth. Pop. in 1861, 51,826.

Folkestone West railway station is one of two open railway stations in Folkestone in Kent, England. The station is operated by Southeastern. The ticket office, in a room on the extensive 'up' side buildings on the London-bound platform, is manned only during part of the day; at other times a PERTIS 'permit to travel' machine, located outside the ticket office, suffices. The substantial 'down side' platform building is occupied as offices by Network Rail.

Folkestone Castle
Folkestone Castle stood on a spur of the North Downs to the north of the town of Folkestone, Kent. This was Norman castle on a natural mound which was in existence in the late 11th and 12th centuries. It was excavated in 1878 by Augustus Pitt Rivers and this has been claimed to be the first excavation of a medieval site in Britain using scientific methods.

The old school building is located in the village on Sandgate Road and as of March 2011 is up for sale. The modern building lies on Coolinge Lane and has extensive recreational grounds. Sandgate Hill Ground was a cricket ground in Sandgate, Kent. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1862, when Kent played Sussex in the grounds first first-class match. The following year the ground held its second and final first-class match in a repeat of the previous seasons fixture. The final recorded match on the ground came in July 1870 when Folkstone played a United South of England Eleven.

Because Folkestone has an existing commercial station, Academy FM has not been permitted to take on-air advertising or sponsorship. The station will be funded entirely by charitable contributions. 107.8 Academy FM Thanet is its sister station in East Kent.
Leas Lift
Originally installed in 1885, in Folkestone, Kent, the Grade II Listed Leas Lift is a funicular railway which carries passengers between the seafront and the promenade. It is one of the oldest water lifts in the UK. The lift operates using water and gravity and is controlled from a small cabin at the top of the cliff. It has carried more than 50 million people since it opened, in a process that is especially energy efficient.
Rotunda Amusement Park
The Rotunda Amusement Park was a fairground located in Folkestone, Kent, England. Following its sale in 2003 the fair began to be dismantled and was finally cleared in 2007.
