East Kent Railway (heritage)
The East Kent Railway (EKR) is a short heritage railway in Kent, England. It is located at Shepherdswell station on the London to Dover Priory direct mainline. The line was constructed from 1911 to 1917 to serve a local colliery at Tilmanstone. See East Kent Light Railway for details of the original lines. The line is operated by heritage diesel locomotives designed for the Southern Region.
Snowdown railway station
Snowdown railway station serves Snowdown in Kent. It is served by Southeastern. The station and the line it serves were built by the London, Chatham and Dover Railway, and the station was opened in 1914. It was formerly known as "Snowdown and Nonington Halt" and had sidings that served the adjacent Snowdown colliery.

Elvington, Kent
Elvington is a small pit village on a ridge in between Canterbury and Dover in the county of Kent in Southeast England. Located near Eythorne, Elvington was mostly built in the early 20th Century to serve the nearby coal mine at Tilmanstone, as were other Kent Coalfield villages including Snowdown, Aylesham and Betteshanger.
Eythorne Baptist Church
Eythorne Baptist Church originated in the meetings of early 16th century Baptists who had crossed the English Channel from the low countries to Kent to escape persecution. 19th century Baptist writer J. J. Goadby named Eythorne as one of the three "most ancient Baptist churches in England". For many years the Church had associated village chapels in east Kent. Two of these remain- at Adisham and Nonington. Others were at Eastry,Ashley,Woolage Green,Wootton and Barnsole.
Shepherdswell (EKLR) railway station
Shepherdswell railway station was the southern terminus of the East Kent Light Railway. It opened on 16 October 1916 and closed to passenger traffic on 30 October 1948. The normal practice was to run coaches into the station under gravity. Shepherdswell was the location of the engine shed and works, and a large number of sidings. It served the village of Shepherdswell or Sibertswold. The station reopened as part of the East Kent Railway in 1993.
Eythorne railway station
Eythorne railway station was a station on the East Kent Light Railway. It opened on 16 October 1916 and closed to passenger traffic on 30 October 1948. It was the junction for the branch to Guilford Colliery, which was abandoned in 1921. The track on this branch was lifted in 1931 but relaid during World War Two to accommodate a 9.2 inches rail mounted gun. The station served the village of Eythorne, it reopened as part of the East Kent Railway in 1993.
Tilmanstone Colliery Halt railway station
Tilmanstone Colliery Halt was a station on the East Kent Light Railway. It opened on 16 October 1916 and was renamed Elvington in 1925. It closed to passenger traffic on 30 October 1948. The station served the pit village of Elvington. Part of the platform is still in situ hidden in undergrowth.
