Hertfordshire
Hertfordshire is a ceremonial and non-metropolitan county in the East of England region of the United Kingdom. Stevenage is a town and borough in Hertfordshire, England. It is situated to the east of junctions 7 and 8 of the A1(M), and is between Letchworth Garden City to the north, and Welwyn Garden City to the south. Stevenage is roughly 30 miles north of central London. Its population was 1,430 in 1801, 4,049 in 1901, 79,724 in 2001 and 84,651 in 2007. The largest increase occurred in the 1950s and 1960s, after Stevenage was designated a new town under the New Towns Act of 1946.

North Hertfordshire College ("NHC") is a further education college operating mainly in North Hertfordshire, established on 1 April 1991, with 29,000 enrolments in 2005-06. The College is based across 3 main campuses in Stevenage and Hitchin, with a purpose built Management Centre in Letchworth Garden City, and a vocational Skills Centre, also in Stevenage, specialising in Construction and Engineering which opened in 2008 and was extended in the Autumn of 2009, with further expansion in 2011.
The Heathcote School
The Heathcote School was a 14-16 secondary school in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. The school was founded in the 1950s. It was awarded Specialist Engineering College status. The school was situated in Shephall. The school had student government, the school council, which was established in 1969. Two representatives from each tutor group were elected to represent the views of the tutor group in the council meetings.
