Preston, Hertfordshire
Preston is a village and civil parish about 3 miles south of Hitchin in Hertfordshire, England. The village grew up around the Templar holdings at Temple Dinsley, and Princess Helena College is now on the site. The first church was mentioned in 1252, when six acres (24,000 m²) of land was given to nuns from Elstow, Bedfordshire. Temple Dinsley passed on to the Knights Hospitaller after the dissolution of the Templars.
Minsden Chapel
Minsden Chapel is an isolated ruined chapel in the fields above the hamlet of Chapelfoot, near Preston, Hertfordshire. Today it is a roofless shell, partly surrounded by a small wood, and accessible only by footpath. It was built in the 14th century, and by the 17th century had fallen into disrepair. Marriages continued here into the 18th century, until the crumbling masonry became too dangerous.

Whitwell is a village in the parish of St Paul's Walden about six miles south of Hitchin in Hertfordshire, England. Situated on a tableland, a spur of the Chilterns, Whitwell is about 400 feet above sea level. The soil is mostly clay with flints. It contains a number of early brick and half-timbered houses, several of which are of the 18th century. Local attractions include Waterhall Farm (an open farm and craft centre), and two country pubs, The Bull Inn and The Maidens Head.

St Paul's Walden is a village about 5 miles south of Hitchin in Hertfordshire, England. The civil parish of St Paul's Walden also includes the village of Whitwell and the hamlet of Bendish. St Paul's Walden has two 18th-century mansions, both standing in parks of great beauty: Stagenhoe (once owned by the Earls of Caithness) and St Paul's Walden Bury (owned by the Bowes-Lyon family), which some say was the birthplace of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.
St Paul's Walden Bury
St. Paul's Walden Bury is a stately home and surrounding gardens located in the village of St Paul's Walden in Hertfordshire. A home of the Bowes-Lyon family, it is best known for its connection to the late Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. One of her childhood homes, it was possibly the site of her birth and was also the location at which she finally accepted Prince Albert's proposal of marriage. The estate has been in the possession of the Bowes-Lyon family since 1725.
Wain Wood
Wain Wood is a 19.2 (47.4 acre) Biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Preston, North Hertfordshire. The site was notified in 1986 under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. The wood lies on a north-east facing slope of decalcified boulder clay and is home to habitat not found in many areas of the United Kingdom anymore due to deforestation or felling.
Stagenhoe
Stagenhoe is a Grade II listed stately home and surrounding gardens located in the village of St Paul's Walden in Hertfordshire. Stagenhoe was rebuilt in the 18th century, after a fire in about 1737. It is now used as a Sue Ryder Care nursing home. It was also a boys prep school.
