Portsdown Hill
Portsdown Hill is a long chalk hill in Hampshire, England, offering good views over Portsmouth, the Solent, Hayling Island and Gosport, with the Isle of Wight beyond. The hill is on the mainland, just to the north of Ports Creek, which separates the mainland from Portsea Island, on which lies the main part of the city of Portsmouth, one of the United Kingdom's main naval bases. To the north lies the forest of Bere, with the South Downs marching in the distance.
Fort Southwick
Fort Southwick is one of the forts found on Portsdown Hill, which overlooks the naval base of Portsmouth in the county of Hampshire, England. It is the highest fort on the hill, and holds the water storage tanks for the other forts, supplying them via a brick lined aqueduct. Construction was started in 1861 and completed by 1870. It was designed to house a large complement of men (about 220) in a crescent-shaped barrack block.
Soberton and Newtown Millennium Walk 2000
The Soberton and Newtown Millennium Walk 2000 is an 10 mile circular footpath through Hampshire, England around villages of Soberton and Newtown. Sections of the footpath are shared with The King's Way, Pilgrims' Trail, Wayfarers Walk and Meon Valley Trail. The entire route is waymarked by metal and plastic disks found attached to wooden and metal posts, trees and street furniture.

Southwick House
Southwick House is a manor house of the Southwick Estate located just to the north of Portsmouth in Hampshire, England. The house was built in 1800 in the late Georgian style, to replace Southwick Park house. The house is distinct for its two-story foyer lit from a cupola, and a series of elliptical rooms. A hemi-circular portico is centered on the house's colonnade of paired Ionic columns. The house became important during World War II.
HMS Dryad (establishment)
HMS Dryad was a stone frigate (shore establishment). It was the home of the Royal Navy's Maritime Warfare School until 2004. Originally the school was based in Portsmouth Dockyard. The establishment took its name from the ship used as its tender, the fourth HMS Dryad. During World War II it was moved to Southwick House near Portsmouth, where it remained until 2004. The Maritime Warfare School was moved to HMS Collingwood in 2004.
The Nelson Monument, Portsdown Hill
The Nelson Monument, 120 feet tall on a granite base, stands on Portsdown Hill about 2 miles north of Portsmouth Harbour on the south coast of England. It was the eventual outcome of a movement started during Horatio Nelson's lifetime to “perpetuate the glorious victories of the British Navy. ” By 1799 Nelson's prize agent Alexander Davison was able to use the Nelson name to spearhead a campaign, to honour “Britain’s naval glory and pre-eminence”.
