Festival Place is a shopping centre in Basingstoke, Hampshire, England which opened on Tuesday, 22 October 2002. The original Headquarters in Leicester Square was also called Fanum House, 'Fanum' being the callsign of the AA. Basingstoke and Alton Light Railway
The Basingstoke and Alton Light Railway was a railway in Hampshire, UK, opened on Saturday, 1 June 1901, with no formal ceremony. It was the first railway to be enabled by an Order of the Light Railway Commission under the Light Railways Act of 1896. Despite its closure in January 1917, and the removal of much of the track, the line was re-opened, largely because of pressure from local landowners, farmers and agricultural workers, in August 1924 (after track was re-laid).
St Michael's Church, Basingstoke
St Michael's Church is a notable Anglican parish church in Basingstoke, Hampshire, England. It is located in the lower part of the town, near its centre, towards the northern end of Church Street. Despite being dismissed by Thomas Hardy in his 1895 novel Jude the Obscure as gaunt and unattractive, St Michael’s is a Grade I listed building. It is largely of 16th-century construction in stone and flint.
Norfolk House, Basingstoke
Norfolk House was the headquarters of The Automobile Association from the mid-1990s until its closure in 2003. It was originally intended to replace Fanum House as the AA's HQ, but ultimately the building was not large enough to accommodate all Basingstoke-based employees and both buildings operated concurrently. The building was purpose-built, and located at the Aldermaston Road roundabout, at the junction of the Basingstoke ring road and the A340.
