Victoria line - Brixton to Stockwell (27-07-2011)
Exactly two years after my previous video between these two stations was filmed, we embark on the same journey (this time, on a train of 2009 Tube Stock) as a way of comparing interior views.

The Oval
The Oval, referred to as the Kia Oval due to a commercial sponsorship deal, is an international cricket ground in Kennington, in the London Borough of Lambeth. In the past it was also sometimes called the Kennington Oval. In past years it was officially named as the 'Fosters Oval', 'AMP Oval', 'Brit Insurance Oval', due to previous commercial sponsorship deals.
Brixton Academy
The Brixton Academy, officially called O2 Academy, Brixton, is one of London's leading music venues, nightclubs and theatres. Situated in Brixton, South London, England, the building has hosted a range of leading rock acts since becoming a music venue in 1983. The maximum capacity is 4,921 (3,760 standing downstairs; 1,083 seated and 78 standing in the circle), alternatively the all-seated capacity is 2,391.
City Racing
City Racing was an artist-run space in Kennington, South London which was active between 1988 and 1998. It was a cooperative by five artists Matt Hale, Paul Noble, John Burgess, Keith Coventry and Peter Owen. They set up the gallery in a former betting shop near the Oval cricket ground, hence the derivation of the gallery name. City Racing became an important and renowned exhibition space; its openings provided a networking opportunity for many artists.

Stockwell Skatepark
Stockwell Skatepark (also known as Brixton Bowls or Brixton Beach) is situated on Stockwell Park Walk in South London, England. Unsupervised and free at all hours, the skatepark was built in the 1970s and has been used since then by skateboarders and practitioners of other extreme sports such as BMX. The park remains popular and has been skated by the likes of Bam Margera, John Cardiel and Jason Lee and the Stereo Sound Agency
Stockwell Garage
Stockwell Garage is a large bus garage in London, coded "SW" by London Transport. It was designed by Adie, Button and Partners, with the engineer A E Beer, and was opened in 1952. I worked as a trainee draughtsman for A E BEER in the latter Fifties and it was common knowledge that the BEER engineer who had taken head responsibility for this pioneering engineering project was an elderly Scot named JOHN SMITH.
Morleys Stores Ltd
Morleys Stores Ltd is a group of seven department stores in Greater London and a business-to-business furniture supply subsidiary called Morley’s of Bicester Ltd. The group is named after the original store that opened in Brixton, south London as Morley & Lanceley. In the year to January 2012 group profit was £4.56 million on turnover was £41.08 million. During that year it paid 484 employees £9.44 million and 11 directors £412,000.
Type Museum
The Type Museum is a unique and massive collection of artifacts representing the legacy of type founding in England, whose famous type foundries and composing systems supplied the world with type in all languages. The museum was founded in 1992 and is located in Oval, south London, England.
Musaeum Tradescantianum
The Musaeum Tradescantianum was the first museum open to the public to be established in England. Located in Vauxhall in south London, it comprised a collection of curiosities assembled by John Tradescant the elder and his son in a building called The Ark, and a botanical collection in the grounds of the building.
Gasworks Gallery
Gasworks Gallery is based by the Oval Cricket Ground in South East London. It is part of Triangle Arts Trust, an international network or residencies and workshops offering artists the opportunity develop their practice stimulated by a climate of international exchange and dialogue. It has a gallery and fifteen artists studios. Nine studios are rented to London based artists and three are reserved for an International Residency Programme for non-UK based artists.
A202 road
The A202 is a primary A road in London. It runs from New Cross Gate to London Victoria station. The section forming part of the London Inner Ring Road is known as Vauxhall Bridge Road.
A203 road
The A203 is a primary A road in South London. It runs from Brixton to Vauxhall connecting the A23 and A3 with Vauxhall Bridge, the Albert Embankment as well as the London Inner Ring Road for travel across the River Thames. Between Brixton and Stockwell tube station it is known as Stockwell Road. North of here it is called South Lambeth Road because it passes by South Lambeth. It is roughly paralleled by the Victoria Line through its route.
Little Portugal, London
Little Portugal is an area in South London, specifically around Stockwell, where there is a large Portuguese community. To some extent, the area geographically corresponds with the South Lambeth area.
St John the Divine, Kennington
St John the Divine, Kennington is an Anglican church in London. The parish of Kennington is within the Anglican Diocese of Southwark. The church was designed by the architect George Edmund Street in the Decorated Gothic style, and was built between 1871 and 1874. Today it is a grade I listed building. The church stands on Vassall Road, Kennington, in Vassall Ward in the London Borough of Lambeth. It is near Oval tube station and the Oval Cricket Ground.
How Does It Feel To Be Loved
How Does It Feel To Be Loved? (often abbreviated to HDIF) is a London-based nightclub, which predominately plays indie pop, Northern Soul and Motown music. On the club's website, founder Ian Watson explains: "We love pop, we love guitars that jangle, we love foot stomping melodies and huge choruses. " The club's name is taken from the lyrics to The Velvet Underground song "Beginning to See the Light".

Oval ward is an administrative area in the London Borough of Lambeth, United Kingdom. Its name refers to The Oval, a cricket ground in the ward and the Oval neighbourhood around it. Oval ward is in the Vauxhall parliamentary constituency and is one of four wards in the borough's north Lambeth division. It includes part of Kennington and some of the River Thames. Its population is around 12,000.
Brixton Mosque
The Brixton Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre (the "Brixton Mosque", or "Masjid ibn Taymeeyah") is a mosque located in Gresham Road in the Brixton area of South London, England. The mosque has facilities for both men and women and space for 500 worshippers during prayer and is currently expanding to accommodate over 1000 worshippers. It also has the largest number of converts for a mosque in the United Kingdom.
Hackford Road
Hackford Road is a road in Oval, Lambeth, south London, England. It runs north-south and is located between Clapham Road to the west and Brixton Road to the east. To the north is the Oval tube station. The artist Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890) lived at 87 Hackford Road, then the house of Ursula Loyer and her daughter Eugenie, in 1873. He wrote to his brother Theo van Gogh from this address. He arrived in London to start work at the art dealership Goupil & Co.
Vassall (ward)

The area is named for Henry Vassall-Fox, 3rd Baron Holland who was responsible for the first building development in the area in the 1820s. The ward includes parts of Kennington, Oval, Brixton, Stockwell and Camberwell. The ward is noted for its high numbers of households living in deprived conditions.

Christ Church Brixton Road
Christ Church on Brixton Road in Lambeth SW9 is an Art Nouveau and Byzantine Revival Grade II* listed buildingbuilt in 1902by Arthur Beresford Pite for his brother-in-law, Rev William Mowll. The foundation stone, by Edward Johnston, was cut by Eric Gill in 1902. The church was consecrated by the Bishop of Rochester on 5 December 1902. The outside pulpit in the south-west corner was designed by Weir, Burrows and Weir and was dedicated on 3 November 1907.

Eaves Housing for Women (Eaves) is a feminist charitable company based in London. It provides support to vulnerable women, including female victims of domestic violence, sex trafficking or domestic servitude, and campaigns against prostitution. The organisation also conducts research and lobbying. Eaves is the umbrella organisation for three projects: "The Poppy Project", "The Scarlet Centre" and "Lilith Research and Development". St Mark's Church, Kennington
St Mark's Church, Kennington is an Anglican church in Kennington, London, United Kingdom. The church is a Commissioners' church, receiving a grant from the Church Building Commission towards its cost. The architect was David R. Roper. The total cost of the church, including the land and other expenses, was £22,720. This was paid partly by the local parishioners and partly by Parliament through a grant known as "The Million Fund". On Saturdays a farmers' market is held in the churchyard.
