The London Borough of Hackney is a London borough located northeast of the City of London. It is currently part of the subregion of East London, though was formerly included in North/North East London/. It is one of the boroughs of Inner London. The local authority is Hackney London Borough Council. Hackney's southwestern boundary is adjacent to the City and Broadgate.

Gainsborough Pictures
Gainsborough Pictures was a British film studio based on the south bank of the Regent's Canal, in Poole Street, Hoxton in the former Metropolitan Borough of Shoreditch, London. Gainsborough Studios were active between 1924 and 1951. Built as a power station for the Great Northern & City Railway it was later converted to studios. The former studios were demolished in 2002 and flats built on the site in 2004. A London Borough of Hackney historical plaque is attached to the building.
The Wenlock Arms
The Wenlock Arms is a public house in London, which reopened on Friday 14 January 1994. The pub is located half-way between Old Street and Angel Islington, just off the City Road and the City Road Basin and Wenlock Basin on the Regent's Canal. The pub has won awards for the quality and range of its cask ales.
Wenlock Basin
The Wenlock Basin, a canal basin, is part of the Regent's Canal in the London Borough of Hackney, just east of City Road Basin, on the other side of Wharf Road. It was constructed in 1826 and is close to the entrance of the Islington Tunnel, where a tug service operated until the 1930s. There are private residential moorings at the North end, with their own entrance gate and entryphone on Wharf Road.
Victoria Miro Gallery
The Victoria Miro Gallery is a leading British contemporary art gallery in London, with an international reputation, run by Victoria Miro, one of the "grandes dames of the Britart scene", who first exhibited Chris Ofili and the Chapman Brothers. She opened her first gallery in 1985 in Cork Street, where she became one of the principal dealers, then moved to much larger premises adjacent to Hoxton in 2000.
Islington Green School
Islington Green School was a comprehensive mixed secondary school from 1966 to 2008. The school was situated in North London and had an age range of 11 to 16. The City of London Academy in Islington replaced Islington Green School in September 2008 The school controversially failed its Ofsted inspection in 1997. The school had received a respectable 38 per cent pass rate the previous year and despite shortcomings the staff were convinced that the school was not failing.
Rosemary Branch Theatre
Rosemary Branch Theatre is a theatre above a public house, in Islington on the borders of Hackney and Shoreditch. It has a capacity of 57 seats, expandable to 65. The pub is a freehouse and the venue is independent and privately owned. The theatre has a tradition of presenting an eclectic mix of art and entertainment in what was once a Victorian music hall, and takes pride in providing a safe and supportive place for emerging talent in all areas of theatre.
St Luke's Hospital for Lunatics
St Luke's Hospital for Lunatics was founded in London in 1751 for the treatment of incurable pauper lunatics by a group of philanthropic apothecaries and others. It was the second public institution in London created to look after mentally ill people, after the Hospital of St. Mary of Bethlem (Bedlam), founded in 1246).
De Beauvoir (ward)
De Beauvoir is a ward in the London Borough of Hackney and forms part of the Hackney South and Shoreditch constituency. The ward returns three councillors to Borough Council, with an election every four years. At the last election on 6 May 2010, Rob Chapman, Gulay Icoz, and Tom Ebbutt, all Labour Party candidates, were returned. Turnout was 57%; with 5,458 votes cast. In 2001, De Beauvoir ward had a total population of 9,932.

City Road Basin
The City Road Basin is an English canal basin and part of the Regent's Canal in London, owned by British Waterways. It opened in 1820, and made a large contributuion to the prosperity of the Regent's Canal. By the 1950s, its surroundings were largely derelict, but a programme of regeneration began in 2004, involving several large-scale residential developments, and public access to the basin was provided for the first time in 2009. The basin is used for canoeing by the Islington Boat Club.
Shoreditch Park
Shoreditch Park is an open space in Hoxton, in the London Borough of Hackney. It is bounded by Poole Street (to the north), Rushton and Mintern Streets (south) and New North Road (west) and Pitfield Street (east). The park derives its name from the Metropolitan Borough of Shoreditch, the local authority when it was established. The park is 7.7 hectares in extent.

Foundry (bar)
The Foundry was a bar and venue on Great Eastern Street at the junction with Old Street in Shoreditch, London. It was owned and run by Jonathan and Tracey Moberly. Bill Drummond, co-founder of the KLF, helped set up the Foundry. It had a basement which hosted art, music and poetry events. A weekly radio show, the foundry late late breakfast show, was broadcast live from the Foundry on Resonance 104.4 FM.
