The hamlet was mentioned in the Domesday Book, when it was referred to as "Stanlege". The hamlet has a small church, whose dedication is unknown.

The line through the site of the station was reinstated in 1997 by the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway, although no new halt was provided.
