Dedham Vale
Dedham Vale is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Essex-Suffolk border in east England. It comprises the area around the River Stour between Manningtree and Smallbridge Farm, 1 mile (1.6 km) east of Bures, including the village of Dedham in Essex. It is part of the area known since the artist's lifetime as Constable Country, as it was made famous by the paintings of John Constable.
RAF Boxted
Royal Air Force Station Boxted or more simply RAF Boxted is a former Royal Air Force station in Essex, England. The airfield is located approximately 4 miles north-northeast of Colchester; about 44 miles northeast of London Opened in 1943, it was used by the United States Army Air Forces. RAF Boxted has the distinction of having been the airfield for the two most successful USAAF fighter groups in air-to-air combat. After the war it was used by the Royal Air Force for jet aircraft testing.
Castle House, Dedham
Castle House, Dedham, Essex was the home of Sir Alfred Munnings from 1919 till his death in 1959. Architecturally Castle House contains a mixture of Tudor and Georgian elements. Shortly after his death his widow established The Violet Munnings Trust Fund in 1962 to establish and run an Art Museum in Castle House, in accordance with Munnings' wish that his pictures and estate be left to the Nation.
