Philip Larkin
Philip Arthur Larkin, CH, CBE, FRSL (9 August 1922 – 2 December 1985) was an English poet and novelist. His first book of poetry, The North Ship, was published in 1945, followed by two novels, Jill (1946) and A Girl in Winter (1947), but he came to prominence in 1955 with the publication of his second collection of poems, The Less Deceived, followed by The Whitsun Weddings (1964) and High Windows (1974).
Beverley (borough)
Beverley was a local government district and borough of Humberside, England, from 1974 to 1996. It was formed on 1 April 1974 by the merger of the previous borough of Beverley, with Beverley Rural District and Haltemprice Urban District. Its name was formally changed by the council to East Yorkshire Borough of Beverley in 1981. On 1 April 1996, Humberside was abolished along with the borough, and the area become part of a unitary East Riding of Yorkshire.
Hullshire
Hullshire was a former district of England. The large county corporate was created in 1440 by Henry VI of England. It took its name from the River Hull, which formed its eastern boundary. At times it included the East Riding of Yorkshire's other two boroughs, Beverley and Hedon. It did not include the city of Kingston upon Hull as this was a separate city-county. Hullshire was usually included as part of the East Riding, despite not being administered as part of it.

Haltemprice Priory
Haltemprice Priory was an Augustinian monastery located approximately two miles south of the village of Cottingham in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The original monastic buildings have long since gone, although ruins of a farmhouse, built 1584 remain on site and incorporate some of the Priory stonework.

Ferens Hall is the original and oldest hall of residence on a complex known as "The Lawns" for the University of Hull, England. The motto engraved on the Ferens Hall Shields is "Ferendo non Feriendo" (By bearing not by striking).
The Lawns
The Lawns is a student accommodation complex for the University of Hull, located in Cottingham. It comprises seven halls of residence (Ferens, Lambert, Nicholson, Morgan, Downs, Reckitt and Grant) and the Lawns Centre. The latter is the complex's catering and social hub. The halls accommodate almost 1,000 students.
Needler Hall
Needler Hall is a traditional hall of residence of the University of Hull, located on Northgate in Cottingham, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. Originally a large private house built in the 18th century, it was acquired, along with Thwaite Hall, by the newly established university college in 1928.
