Weald

The Weald is the name given to an area in South East England situated between the parallel chalk escarpments of the North and the South Downs. It crosses the counties of East and West Sussex, Hampshire, Kent and Surrey. It should be regarded as three separate parts: the sandstone "High Weald" in the centre; the clay "Low Weald" periphery; and the Greensand Ridge which stretches around the north and west of the Weald and includes the Weald's highest points.

Bewl Water

Bewl Water is a reservoir in the valley of the River Bewl (which is a tributary of the River Teise), straddling the boundary between Kent and East Sussex. It is about 4 km south of Lamberhurst, Kent, England. The reservoir was part of a project to increase supplies of water in the area. It supplies not only Southern Water’s customers in the Medway towns, Thanet and Hastings, but is also used by other water companies in the area.

Wadhurst railway station

Wadhurst railway station is on the Hastings Line in East Sussex in England, and serves the town of Wadhurst. The station is at the bottom of a fairly steep hill, with the town centre about a mile away at the top. An hourly bus (more frequent at commuter times) links the station with the town centre and with the neighbouring villages of Durgates and Ticehurst. Frant is a village and civil parish in the Wealden District of East Sussex, England. It is located on the Kentish border, about five miles (8 km) south of Tunbridge Wells. The settlements of Bells Yew Green and Eridge are both located within the parish. When the Wealden iron industry was at its height, much of the village was owned by ironmasters. Smuggling occurred here in the 17th and 18th centuries; and one of the turnpike roads (now the A267) came through here at that time.

River Teise

The River Teise is a tributary of the River Medway in Kent, England. It begins in Dunorlan Park in Tunbridge Wells. and flows eastwards past Bayham Abbey and then through Lamberhurst. 2 miles downstream of Lamberhurst the small River Bewl, on which is the reservoir Bewl Water, joins the Teise. Unusually the Teise bifurcates 1+⁄4 miles south west of the village of Marden, passing either side of a low ridge. The Lesser Teise flows for about 4 miles before joining the River Beult at Hunton.

The River Bewl is a tributary of the River Teise in Kent, England. Its headwaters are in the High Weald, in Sussex between Lamberhurst, Wadhurst and Flimwell. The valley is deeply incised into Tunbridge Wells red sandstone, with a base of alluvium on Wadhurst clay. Between 1973 and 1975, a 900-metre dam was built across the Bewl valley, cutting off the headwaters. This formed Bewl Water, a 30-metre-deep storage reservoir, with a surface area of 308 hectares .
