Shipton Gorge is a village in south west Dorset, England, three miles east of Bridport. The village has a population of 319, 11% of dwellings are second homes. There is no actual gorge at Shipton Gorge; the village is named after the de Gorges family who owned the land many hundreds of years ago. The terrain surrounding the village is hilly.
Hooke Court
Hooke Court is a 17th-century house in rural Dorset, England. It is a Grade II* listed building built around the time of the English Civil War. Standing in 14 acres of mature park and woodland, Hooke Court is on the outskirts of Hooke, a small village in rural West Dorset, 11 miles from the Jurassic Coastline. In the Civil War it was damaged by fire by Roundheads. but repaired in 1647 by the Duke of Bolton. There had been previously been medieval buildings on the site.

Eggardon Hill
Eggardon Hill is located on chalk uplands approximately four miles to the east of Bridport, in the English county of Dorset. It stands 252 metres above sea level, (some sources 254 m) and provides panoramic views to the south, north and west. The southern half of the hill is owned and maintained by The National Trust (which permits free public access throughout the year) with the northern part in private ownership. Eggardon Hill is first documented in the Domesday Book of 1086.
