British Birdwatching Fair
The British Birdwatching Fair or Birdfair is an annual event for birdwatchers, held every August at Rutland Water in England. It is described as the birder's "Glastonbury". A large number of suppliers of binoculars, cameras, books, clothing and other birdwatching equipment, plus artists and tour companies, display and sell their wares, and there are lectures and other attractions. The first fair was held in 1989. All the organisers' profits are donated to a charity, Birdlife International.
Vale of Catmose
The Vale of Catmose is an area of relatively low-lying land in western Rutland, England, much of which is flooded by Rutland Water. The Catmose College (1972 - 2009 the Vale of Catmose College) is a school located in Oakham. Catmose is the name of the offices of Rutland County Council. Catmose Vale was the name of a former hospital in Oakham.
Uppingham Rural District
Uppingham was a rural district in Rutland, England from 1894 to 1974, covering the south-west of the county. The rural district was formed by the Local Government Act 1894 from the part of the Uppingham rural sanitary district in Rutland. At the same time, the remainder of Uppingham RSD, which lay in Leicestershire and Northamptonshire became Hallaton Rural District and Gretton Rural District respectively. The only town in the district was Uppingham.

Manton railway station
Manton railway station or Manton Junction is a former railway station serving the villages of Manton and Wing in the county of Rutland. Opened in 1848 by the Syston and Peterborough Railway, it was situated off the road connecting the two villages and was just over a mile from each, or just over half a mile by the public footpaths that were soon established. It was one of only a handful of stations in the small county of Rutland. Today only Oakham station is still open.
Hambleton Hall
Hambleton Hall is a hotel and restaurant located in the village of Hambleton close to Oakham, Rutland, England. As of 2011, the restaurant holds one star in the Michelin Guide. The Hall was built in 1881 as a hunting box by Walter Marshall who left it to his sister, Eva Astley Paston Cooper. She was a socialite who gathered a salon including Noël Coward, Malcolm Sargent and Charles Scott-Moncrieff. The hall has overlooked Rutland Water since the reservoir's construction in the 1970s.
Rutland County Museum
Rutland County Museum is located in Oakham, Rutland, in the old Riding School of the Rutland Fencible Cavalry which was built in 1794-95. The museum, opened in 1969, houses a collection of objects relating to local rural and agricultural life, social history and archaeology. Temporary exhibitions are shown alongside the permanent displays and there are activities for children. The museum has recently begun social networking, via Twitter and Facebook.
