East Devon is a local government district in Devon, England. Its council is based in Sidmouth, and the largest town is Exmouth. The district was formed on 1 April 1974 by the merger of the borough of Honiton with the urban districts of Budleigh Salterton, Exmouth, Ottery St. Mary, Seaton, Sidmouth along with Axminster Rural District, Honiton Rural District and part of St. Thomas Rural District. Sidmouth railway station

Sidmouth railway station was a fully operational single platform station located in Sidmouth, Devon, England until its closure in 1967. The station is now a privately owned property at the top of Alexandria Road, Sidmouth. The line was part of the Southern Railway, a branch off the Salisbury to Exeter route. Its railway heritage is still clear, as can be seen from the photograph of the front of the building. Round the back there is still some platform and canopy, in use by a builders' merchant.

River Sid

The River Sid is a minor river in East Devon. It flows for 10.5 kilometres southwards from a source in Crowpits Covert (OSGB36 Grid reference SY138963) at a height of 206 metres above sea level. The source is at the head of a goyle or small ravine. The underlying geology is impermeable silty mudstones and sandstones of the Triassic Keuper marl, overlain with permeable Greensand and clay-with-flints. The junction between the Greensand and Keuper Marl forms a spring line.

Kennaway House is an early-19th-century house, situated at Coburg Road, Sidmouth, East Devon, which was formerly known as Fort House and Church House. It is a Grade II* listed building. Fort House was built about 1805 and soon came into the ownership of the Kennaway family of Escot House near Ottery St Mary. The Kennaways resettled at Escot after 1838. By the end of the 19th century the house was in use as a lodging house. R.A.
