Holcombe, Teignbridge
Holcombe is a village in the south of Devon, England, situated on the A379 road between the coastal towns of Teignmouth and Dawlish. The Smuggler's Inn public house is on this road and there is another pub, the Castle Inn, in the village itself. Holcombe is a typical small English village, with thatched cottages and country lanes. Smugglers Lane at the bottom of the village gives access under the South Devon Railway sea wall to the beach.
Luscombe Castle
Luscombe Castle is a country house situated near the resort town of Dawlish, in the county of Devon in England. The house was built in 1800 for Charles Hoare, a prominent banker whose sister, Henrietta, was the widow of Sir Thomas Acland of Killerton, near Exeter. The house was designed by John Nash, and was a trendsetter for the Gothic Revival with its castellated tower and walls. The inside is simple Neo Classicism, but with Gothic windows.
South Devon Railway sea wall
The South Devon Railway sea wall is situated on the south coast of Devon in England. It is probably the most photographed section of railway in the United Kingdom as a footpath runs alongside the railway between Dawlish Warren and Dawlish, and another footpath forms a continuation to the sea front promenade at Teignmouth. Both these form part of the South West Coast Path.
Cockwood
Cockwood is a small village on the west side of the Exe Estuary in the county of Devon, England. Lying between the villages of Dawlish Warren and Starcross, it is separated from the estuary by the main railway line between Exeter and Torquay, and is set around a small tidal harbour which boats must reach via a bridge under the railway line. Cockwood has two public houses. The Anchor Inn which is on the harbour front and the Ship Inn, nearer the village hall.
Woodway House
Woodway House is in Teignmouth, South Devon, England. It was at one time a farm on lands held by the Bishops of Exeter. In around 1815 a thatched 'cottage' in the 'cottage ornée' style of Horace Walpole's (1717–1797) Thames-side villa, Strawberry Hill, was built here by Captain James Spratt R.N. Walpole built his villa at Twickenham in around 1747 and set a fashion for rural romantic Gothic-style retreats.
Dawlish Warren National Nature Reserve
The Dawlish Warren National Nature Reserve is a National Nature Reserve near the village of Dawlish Warren in south Devon, England. It is part of the Exe Estuary Special Protection Area, and sits on a sand spit which runs across the mouth of the estuary. The Dawlish Warren nature reserve provides a major roosting site for wading birds and migratory waterfowl, and serves as a habitat for the endangered petalwort plant.
