Blackdown Rings
The Blackdown Rings are the earthworks of an Iron Age hill fort near the hamlet of Hazelwood in Devon, England. The fort is situated on a hilltop approximately 185 metres above sea level, in a commanding position above the River Avon.
Gara Bridge railway station
Gara Bridge railway station was a station on the Kingsbridge branch of the GWR. Opened in December 1893 the stone built station was the only one on the line to have a passing loop. Despite a great deal of local opposition station was closed for freight and passengers on 16 September 1963, and is now a private dwelling. Fowlescombe Manor
Fowlescombe Manor is a ruined country house in Fowlescombe, near Ugborough, Devon. It was built by Thomas Fowell in the centre of the valley in 1537, believed to be on the site of an earlier house and then owned by William Fowell (1556 - 1636). The estate was known as Fowelscombe or Vowelscombe and its last owners in the mid 19th century were the King family. It fell into ruin sometime between 1860 and 1880 and has since become an ivy-clad ruin.
