Tintwistle Rural District
Tintwistle Rural District was a local government district in north east Cheshire, England from 1894 to 1974. It was created a rural district by the Local Government Act 1894 from the part of the Ashton-under-Lyne rural sanitary district which was in Cheshire. It consisted of the civil parishes of: Tintwistle Hattersley (until 1936) Matley (until 1936) Hattersley and Matley formed an exclave of the district.
Dinting railway station
Dinting railway station serves the village of Dinting near Glossop in Derbyshire, England. The station is on the Manchester-Glossop Line 12¼ miles (20 km) east of Manchester Piccadilly. Prior to the Woodhead Line closure in 1981 Dinting was a station on a major cross Pennine route. At Piccadilly, you can access other lines, such as Stockport, through New Mills Newtown and on to Buxton.
Arnfield Reservoir
Arnfield Reservoir is a man-made lake in Longdendale in north Derbyshire. It was constructed in 1854 as part of the Longdendale chain to supply water from the River Etherow to the urban areas of Greater Manchester. Unlike the other reservoirs in the chain, Arnfield and Hollingworth Reservoir are not in the Etherow valley but lie in the valley of tributary brooks to the north and above (Arnfield lies around 1 mile from Bottoms Reservoir in the Longdendale Chain).
Hollingworth Reservoir
Hollingworth Reservoir is a former reservoir near Hollingworth, Tameside, Greater Manchester. The reservoir straddles the Greater Manchester–Derbyshire border. It was constructed in 1854 as part of the Longdendale Chain, but was abandoned in 1987 and now forms part of the Swallows Wood nature reserve. Longdendale Bypass
The Longdendale Bypass (also known as the A57/A628 Mottram-in-Longdendale, Hollingworth & Tintwistle Bypass) was a controversial road scheme in England (abandoned in March 2009) by the Highways Agency. The aim was to alleviate traffic congestion on the A57 road/A628 road/A616 road routes that presently pass through the villages.
A628 road
The A628 is a major road in the north of England connecting Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire by crossing the Pennine chain of hills by way of the Woodhead Pass through the Peak District National Park. The height and the exposure of the road often creates problems during poor weather in winter and the road is sometimes closed due to snowfall or high winds. There are plans for a bypass around Mottram in Longdendale, Hollingworth and Tintwistle.
Swallows Wood
Swallows Wood {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:53.47550|-1.98871|region:GB_type:landmark|||||| |primary |name= }}is a nature reserve near Hollingworth, Tameside, straddling the border between Greater Manchester and north Derbyshire. The 60-acre reserve, which contains semi-natural woodlands, meadows, ponds and marsh areas, is owned by United Utilities who are responsible for its management.
List of mills in Longdendale and Glossopdale
Mills in Glossop, Derbyshire and Tintwistle, Cheshire, England. The first mills were built in the 1760s, and were powered by the water of the River Etherow and its tributaries. As the industry developed, the mills changed hands, were demolished, were converted to use steam,or consolidated into larger units. They changed their names and their functions. Water powered mills were smaller than the later steam powered mills found in Greater Manchester.
Higher Dinting
Higher Dinting is a village in Glossopdale, Derbyshire, England, UK, near Glossop, Dinting, and Dinting Vale. Higher Dinting was the site of the Dinting Railway Museum. Nicholas Garlick was born in Higher Dinting in 1555 and was executed at Derby in July 1588 for being a Catholic priest. The Padley Martyrs are still commemorated every July at Padley chapel. A statue was placed in a private garden in Higher Dinting.

Dinting Vale is a village in Glossopdale, Derbyshire, England, UK, near Higher Dinting, Dinting and Glossop. Dinting Vale Printworks became renowned through the Potter family which included Edmund Potter and his brother Rupert Potter, the father of Beatrix Potter who often visited her father and uncle at the Print Works. The street names in a housing estate in Dinting Vale allude to Beatrix's characters, e.g. Peter Rabbit Close.
