Blackwell (historic house)
Blackwell is a large house designed in the Arts and Crafts style by Baillie Scott. It was built 1898–1900, and is listed grade I as an outstanding example of British domestic architecture. The house was built as a holiday home for Sir Edward Holt, a wealthy Manchester brewer. It is situated near the town of Bowness-on-Windermere with views looking over Windermere and across to the Coniston Fells. Blackwell has survived with almost all its original decorative features intact.
Brant Fell
Brant Fell is a hill in the English Lake District, near Bowness-on-Windermere, Cumbria. It is the subject of a chapter of Wainwright's book The Outlying Fells of Lakeland. It reaches 629 feet and Wainwright's route is an anticlockwise circuit which leaves Bowness along the path of the Dales Way. He commends its "fine prospect of Windermere".
St Anthony's Church, Cartmel Fell
St Anthony's Church, Cartmel Fell, is in the village of Cartmel Fell, Cumbria, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Kendal, the archdeaconry of Westmorland and Furness, and the diocese of Carlisle. The church has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed building. Just to the southeast is Ravensbarrow Lodge.
Heights Tarn
Heights Tarn, small lake to the east of Lake Windermere and north of Simpson Ground Reservoir, near Cartmell Fell, in the Lake District of Cumbria, England. Located at an altitude of 208 m (683 feet), the lake has an area of 1.5 hectares (3.8 acres), and measures 290m x 73m (680 x 260 feet). Although just off the main road, the lake is not accessible to the public, lying on private land and contains a boathouse on its eastern bank. About 400 metres to the south is Sow How Tarn.
Ravensbarrow Lodge
Ravensbarrow Lodge is a small country lodge in Cartmel Fell, Cumbria, to the east of Lake Windermere. It is located just to the southeast of St Anthony's Church, surrounded by woodland. It was owned by James B. Cockerton, associated with The Kennel Club, in the late 19th century. Its owner as of 1998 was M. C. Bentley. The white painted house has recently undergone extensive renovation and now appears to be the headquarters of Captured Elements Ltd, a local Solar Panel Installer company.
