Trout Beck
The Trout Beck is a fast flowing river of the Lake District in North West England. It is one of the main sources of replenishment for Windermere. Its name comes from Old Norse and appears in documents from 1292 as Trutebyk. The river rises between the peaks of Stony Cove Pike and Thornthwaite Crag in the High Street range, at a height of about 1970 feet (600 m). Several tributaries flowing from the crags to the west of the High Street Roman road combine to form the young Trout Beck.

Windermere and Troutbeck (including Bridge House) is a National Trust property consisting of land around Windermere, a lake in Cumbria, England. This National Trust property includes the head of the Troutbeck Valley, several sites next to Windermere, and six farms. One of the farms — Troutbeck Park — once belonged to Beatrix Potter and was, in fact, her largest farm.
Townend
Townend is a 17th-century house located in Troutbeck, Windermere, Cumbria, England, and in the ownership of the National Trust. It was donated to the Trust in 1948. Prior to this it was the home of the Browne family, local farmers, for 400 years. Although not the sort of stately home usually associated with the National Trust, it does provide an insight into the life of a reasonably wealthy farming family.
Orrest Head
Orrest Head is a fell in the English Lake District on the eastern shores of Windermere. It is the subject of a chapter in Wainwright's The Outlying Fells of Lakeland, and the first fell he climbed. He describes it as "our first ascent in Lakeland, our first sight of mountains in tumultuous array across glittering waters, our awakening to beauty" and also as "a fitting finale, too, to a life made happy by fellwandering".
Old Codgers Cottage
Old Codgers Cottage was built in 1847 by Augustus Pugin who was responsible for interior design and rebuilding of the Palace of Westminster. He was commissioned by the Kendal and Windermere Railway company to build the properties for their staff when the new Windermere railway station was being built. The cottage is situated off Beech Street, Windermere.
Windermere Steamboat Museum
The Windermere Steamboat Museum was opened in 1977 by George Pattinson, a local builder and boat collector, and was located on the former Sand and Gravel Wharf between Bowness-on-Windermere and the town of Windermere, on the eastern shore of Windermere in Cumbria, England. In 2007, the museum was taken over by the Lakeland Arts Trust, a local charity, in order to restore the collection and redevelop the site. The Trust also runs Abbot Hall Art Gallery, Blackwell and the Museum of Lakeland Life.
Holehird Gardens
Holehird Gardens is an extensive 10 acre site located in Windermere, Cumbria. It is the home of the Lakeland Horticultural Society. The garden consists of a large variety of plants, particularly those suited to the local climate with its high rainfall. It is made up of extensive rock and heather gardens, alpine houses, and a walled garden which is of particular interest for its herbaceous borders. It was once voted by BBC gardeners to be one of the nation’s favourite gardens.
St Mary's Church, Windermere
St Mary's Church, Windermere, is located in the town of Windermere, Cumbria, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Windermere, the archdeaconry of Westmorland and Furness, and the diocese of Carlisle. Its benefice is united with that of Jesus Church, Troutbeck. The church has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade II listed building.
