Wigton railway station serves the town of Wigton in Cumbria, England. The railway station is a stop on the Cumbrian Coast Line, 11 miles south west of Carlisle. It is operated by Northern Rail who provide all passenger train services.

Aikhead is a village in the English county of Cumbria, within the Lake District. It is about one and a half miles northwest of Wigton. The village was the residence of John Rooke, an English geologist.
Wigton Rural District
Wigton was a rural district in Cumberland, England from 1894 to 1974. It was created by the Local Government Act 1894 based on Wigton rural sanitary district. Wigton was originally an urban district but became a civil parish in the Wigton RD in 1934. It was abolished by the Local Government Act 1972 on 1 April 1974 and has since formed part of the Allerdale district of Cumbria.
Wigton School
Wigton School (also called Brookfield School or Friends' School) was a private boarding school on the outskirts of Wigton, Cumbria. The school was opened on 4 September 1815 by the Society of Friends for Cumberland and Northumberland. The initial student intake was 9 boys and 8 girls in premises at Highmoor in existing buildings. These first buildings were leased at an annual rent of 27 guineas. In 1826, the main school site opened at Brookfield, commissioned by the Society of Friends.
