Penrith Rural District
Penrith was a rural district within the administrative county of Cumberland, England that existed from 1894 to 1974 with slight boundary changes in 1934. The district largely corresponded to the ancient Leath Ward of Cumberland but excluding the parishes of Penrith and Alston with Garrigill. The area had been a rural sanitary district prior to the Local Government Act 1894. Penrith itself was covered by Penrith Urban District, which the Rural District surrounded on the west, north and east.
Newbiggin, Dacre
Newbiggin is a small linear village in Cumbria, North-western England. It is in the Dacre civil parish about three miles (5 km) west of Penrith. It is usually referred to and is addressed as Newbiggin, Stainton so as to differentiate it from the other Newbiggins in Cumbria, especially the one near Temple Sowerby whose post town is also Penrith. The village consists of a quarter of a mile long line of houses on either side of the road that connects Stainton and the A66 to the B5288 at Clickham.
Blencow
Blencow or Blencowe is a small village near Penrith, Cumbria. It is divided by the River Petteril into Great Blencow to the south and Little Blencow to the north. Great Blencow is in the civil parish of Dacre while Little Blencow is within Greystoke parish. The post office and village pub are situated in Little Blencow, and there is another pub called the Clickham Inn to the south of the village towards Newbiggin.
Blencow railway station
Blencow railway station was situated on the Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith Railway between Penrith and Cockermouth in Cumbria, England. The station served the villages of Blencow (or Blencowe) and Newbiggin. The station opened to passenger traffic on 2 January 1865, and closed on 3 March 1952. It reopened temporarily on 2 July 1956 before closing permanently on 6 March 1972. Although called Blencow the station was actually situated on the edge of Newbiggin and was over 2 miles from Blencow.

Hutton in the Forest is a country house in the historic county of Cumberland, which now forms part of the modern county of Cumbria, England. It has belonged to the Fletcher-Vane family, latterly the Barons Inglewood, since 1605. Hutton-in-the-Forest was originally a medieval stronghold and the Pele tower survives. Succeeding generations have altered and added to the house and both the outside and inside show a wide range of decorative styles from the seventeenth century to the present day.
