Roa Island
Roa Island lies just over half a mile (1 km) south of the village of Rampside at the southernmost point of the Furness Peninsula in Cumbria, though formerly in the area of Lancashire north of the sands. It is located at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:54|5|N|3|10|W||| | |name= }} (OS grid ref. SD 233650). It is one of the Islands of Furness in northern England. It has an area of about three hectares.

Roose or Roosecote is a suburb and ward of Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, England. The word 'roose' is Celtic for "moor" or "heath" and the suffix 'cote' of Roosecote means "hut" or "huts" (the word 'cottage' is derived from 'cote'). Before the building of Roose Cottages and the arrival of the Cornish miners Roose was pronounced with a hard S, as in goose; now it is locally pronounced 'Rooze', due to the Cornish accent.

The history of the village can be traced as far back as the mesolithic period and it was the centre of the manor of Muchland in the Middle Ages.
Dendron, Cumbria
Dendron is a small village in South Cumbria, around three miles from the town of Barrow-in-Furness. The village was once just a collection of farms, but many of the old farm buildings have now been converted into houses for commuters working in Barrow, Ulverston and Dalton. The village is mentioned in the Domesday Book as Dene, and the name is thought to mean sheltering place for deer - it is only a coincidence that it is the same as the Greek for tree.
Newton-in-Furness
Newton is a small village in the English county of Cumbria. It is located on the Furness peninsula north-east of the port of Barrow-in-Furness and south of the town of Dalton-in-Furness. Newton was listed in the Domesday Book as being one of the vills or townships forming the Manor of Hougun which was held by Earl Tostig. Sky News Presenter Steve Dixon (newsreader) was born in the village, as was Richard T. Slone, an award winning painter.
