River Bela

The River Bela is a short river in the county of Cumbria, England. It is in the ancient county of Westmorland. The river is formed by the confluence of Peasey Beck and Stainton Beck at Overthwaite. From there, it skirts around the town of Milnthorpe to the south, before pouring into the River Kent as it approaches its estuary. During World War II a prisoner of war camp was built beside the river at grid reference SD513802. After the war the camp became an open prison.

Peasey Beck

Peasey Beck is a watercourse in Cumbria, England. The source of the beck is on Lambrigg Fell between Kendal and Sedbergh though, for the first few kilometres, the beck is known as Killington Beck. Having run through Killington Reservoir, the beck runs south, then west, passing the village of Old Hutton the river then continues south past Gatebeck, picking up Fall Beck on the way, then passes Endmoor. The river passes Crooklands before converging with Stainton Beck to form the River Bela.

Farleton, Cumbria

Farleton is a village in the English county of Cumbria. Historically within the county of Westmorland, Farleton lies just to the east of the main A6070 road, from which it is divided by the Lancaster Canal, some 8+⁄2 miles south of Kendal. Farleton used to have one public house called 'the Duke' after the Grand Old Duke of York but this was turned into a dwelling house in the early part of the twentieth century. With Farleton there is a small river and one post box.

The Lakeland Wildlife Oasis is a small zoological collection near the town of Milnthorpe, Cumbria, England, with a science and evolution theme. The centre is divided into several sections, including a butterfly hall and aquarium, as well as an outside walk-through area. The Lakeland Wildlife Oasis is a member of the BIAZA organisation, and participates in breeding schemes for several endangered species, notably the unusual Fossa (animal).

Dalton Hall (Cumbria)

Dalton Hall is a country house near Burton-in-Kendal, Cumbria in northern England. The hall has been in the ownership of the Hornby family since the late 18th century. The original hall was a Georgian mansion. Major additions were made to the hall in 1859–60 by the Lancaster architect E. G. Paley. This building was demolished in 1968 and replaced by a new house in 1968–72. The new house was designed by Clough Williams-Ellis, and was his last commission.

It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Kendal, the archdeaconry of Westmorland and Furness, and the diocese of Carlisle. Its benefice is united with that of Holy Trinity, Holme. The church has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed building.
