Leath
Not to be confused with Lethe. Leath was one of the wards of the ancient county of Cumberland in north west England. Cumberland unlike most other English counties was divided into wards rather than hundreds. The ward was bounded on the south by Westmorland, the north by Cumberland and Eskdale wards, the east by the counties of Northumberland and Durham and on the west by the wards of Allerdale above Derwent and Allerdale below Derwent.
Clifton Moor Skirmish
The Clifton Moor Skirmish took place between forces of the British Hanoverian government and Jacobite rebels on 19 December 1745. Since the commander of the British forces, the Duke of Cumberland, was aware of the Jacobite presence in Derby, the Jacobite leader Prince Charles Edward Stuart decided to retreat north back towards Scotland. Charles began his retreat from Derby on 6 December 1745.
Clifton Moor railway station
Clifton Moor railway station was situated in England on the Eden Valley Railway between Penrith and Kirkby Stephen East. It served the village of Clifton. The station opened to passenger traffic on 1 August 1863, and was originally named 'Clifton'. The 'Moor' suffix was added on 1 September 1927. The station finally closed on 22 January 1962. On one of the station's platforms a private waiting room was built for the "Yellow Earl of Lonsdale" who lived at nearby Lowther Castle.

Wetheriggs Pottery is a pottery on the C3047 road, east of the hamlet of Clifton Dykes, in the civil parish of Clifton, Cumbria 5 miles southeast of Penrith. It opened in the mid 19th century providing farm and housewares for local consumption, later the business diversified into craft pottery, and, towards the end of the 20th century became focused as a visitor attraction, and in nature conservation work.
Clifton and Lowther railway station
For the station on the Eden Valley Railway line see Clifton Moor railway station Clifton railway station, later known as Clifton and Lowther railway station was a station on the Lancaster and Carlisle Railway south of Penrith near to the village of Clifton. It opened in 1846, and briefly acted as the terminus of the Eden Valley railway from its opening in 1862 until 1863, when a new northwards chord was built, along with Clifton Moor railway station.
Wetheriggs Zoo and Animal Sanctuary
Wetheriggs Zoo and Animal Sanctuary is a registered UK charity (Charity No. 1131536). Wetheriggs is an international animal rescue centre and zoo located in the village of Clifton Dykes near Penrith in Cumbria, England. It is the only zoo animal rescue in the country taking in a wide range of animals apart from domestic cats and dogs. Many of the animals were previously pets which could no longer be looked after. The majority of the other animals have been rescued from around the UK.
