Durham
Durham is a city in north east England. It is within the County Durham local government district, and is the county town of the larger ceremonial county. It lies to the south of Newcastle upon Tyne, Chester-le-Street and Sunderland and to the north of Darlington. Durham is well known for its Norman cathedral and 11th-century castle, both designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986. The castle has been the home of Durham University since 1832.
Shincliffe
Shincliffe is a village in the County Durham in England. It is situated just over a mile to the south-east of Durham city centre, on the A177 road to Stockton. Shincliffe is also a civil and ecclesiastical parish consisting of Shincliffe Village, High Shincliffe, Sherburn House and Whitwell House. Shincliffe is regarded as one of the most affluent villages in Durham City and has been designated a conservation area to preserve its historic character.

Josephine Butler College
Josephine Butler College is the newest college at Durham University, having opened in October 2006. It is located at the Howlands Farm site next to residences of Ustinov College. In the centre of the college is a grass-covered hill, called "The Mound. " It is a fully self-catered college of the University with facilities far more modern than any of the existing undergraduate colleges in Durham (the newest of which was opened in 1972) and all rooms are en-suite.
Old Durham
Old Durham is a hamlet in County Durham, in England. It is situated approximately 1 mile east of central Durham and south of Gilesgate. The most northerly remains of a Romanised farmstead in the Roman Empire were excavated at Old Durham during the 1940s. Old Durham's 17th century gardens became a popular attraction, which led to the opening of the Pineapple Inn to provide refreshments for local visitors.
Houghall
Houghall is a hamlet in County Durham, in England. It is situated approximately 1.5 miles to the south of Durham city centre. It is also the location of the Houghall Campus of East Durham College, associated gardens, a small number of houses and a restaurant. Coal was mined from the Hutton seam in Houghall from 1840 and a colliery village built during the 1860s although many miners lived in nearby Shincliffe.
Trevelyan College Boat Club
Trevelyan College Boat Club (TCBC) is the boat club of Trevelyan College, at Durham University. An active north eastern rowing club, it competes on a national level, for example at Henley Royal Regatta and the Head of the River Race. It is recognised as one of the more prominent Durham College Rowing Clubs. The club runs under the leadership of a structured executive committee and benefits from an annual intake of around thirty novice rowers each year.
The Racecourse
The Racecourse is part of Durham University's sports facilities. It contains squash, tennis and fives courts, cricket, rugby, hockey and football pitches and rowing houses. It is located along the River Wear and has been used as a sports ground since at least 1733. As well as use by Durham University, the Racecourse is known for hosting two annual events, the Durham Regatta and Durham Miners' Gala.

Green Lane is a cricket ground in Durham, County Durham. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1866, when Durham City played the Northumberland Club. Durham first played at the ground in the 1899 Minor Counties Championship against Norfolk. Durham next used the ground in the 1904 Minor Counties Championship against Northamptonshire.
