The village is about four miles (6.5 km) northwest of Falmouth and five miles (8 km) southwest of Truro. Perran Wharf is the area of the parish beside the River Kennall (a tributary of Restronguet Creek) where there were wharves and a quay. The other major settlement in the parish is Perranwell.

Carclew House, one of Britain's lost houses, was a large Palladian county house near Mylor in Cornwall, United Kingdom. It was situated at grid reference SW 787 380 approximately three miles north of Falmouth. Carclew House was rebuilt in the 18th century and again in the early 19th century but was destroyed by fire in 1934.

Great County Adit
The Great County Adit, sometimes called the County Adit, or the Great Adit was a system of interconnected adits that helped drain water from the tin and copper mines in the Gwennap area of Cornwall, in the United Kingdom. Construction started in 1748 and it eventually consisted of nearly 40 miles of underground tunnels, providing drainage to over 60 mines. The adit was the brainchild of John Williams (born 1714) of Scorrier who was the manager of Poldice mine.

Carnon viaduct
Carnon viaduct carries the railway from Truro to Falmouth (now branded the 'Maritime Line') over the valley of the Carnon River in west Cornwall, United Kingdom. The viaduct is situated half-a-mile (800 metres) northeast of Perranwell station which is five miles (8 km) from the line's terminus at Falmouth and three miles (5 km) from its junction with the Cornish main line at Truro.
