Battle at The Lizard
The naval Battle of the Lizard (French: Combat du Cap Lézard) took place on 21 October 1707 during the War of the Spanish Succession near Lizard Point, Cornwall between two French squadrons under René Duguay-Trouin and Claude de Forbin and an English convoy protected by a squadron under Commodore Richard Edwards. Duguay-Trouin and Forbin were two of the most successful French naval commanders and they had caused much damage to the allied merchant fleet.
Lizard Lighthouse
The Lizard Lighthouse is a lighthouse at Lizard Point in Cornwall, United Kingdom, built to guide vessels passing through the English Channel. A light was first exhibited here in 1619, built thanks to the efforts of Sir John Killigrew, but it was extinguished and the tower demolished in 1630 because of difficulties in raising funds for its operation and maintenance. The current lighthouse, consisting of two towers with cottages between them, was built in 1751.

Pentreath Beach is also small cove with a beach, not far away in south-west Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is situated on the west side of the Lizard Peninsula, 200 metres south of Kynance Cove. Access is via a steep cliff path cut into the cliffs.

St Wynwallow's Church, Landewednack, is the parish church of Landewednack parish in Cornwall, United Kingdom. It is the most southerly church in mainland Britain and is situated approximately ten miles (16 km) south of Helston. The church is dedicated to St Winwaloe and is Church of England. It was founded about 600 AD and the oldest part of the current building is the twelfth century Norman doorway.

The MFV Bugaled Breizh is a French trawler from Loctudy, Finistère, whose sinking with all hands on January 15, 2004 remains unresolved. While it appears likely that the ship was pulled under by a submarine, a specific submarine could not be identified as a number of submarines of several nations were in the vicinity of the accident site.
SM U-95
SM U-95 was one of the 329 submarines serving in the Imperial German Navy in World War I. U-95 was engaged in the naval warfare and took part in the First Battle of the Atlantic. She sank by unknown causes off Hardelot, France, in the second half of January 1918.

Lizard (sometimes referred to as The Lizard) is a village on the Lizard peninsula in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is situated approximately ten miles (16 km) south of Helston, and is Britain's most southerly settlement. The name derives from the Cornish Lis for 'place' and Ard for 'high'. The village is in the civil parish of Landewednack, the most southerly parish on the British mainland. The parish church is dedicated to St Winwallo and is the most southerly in mainland Britain.
