Runcorn East railway station
Runcorn East railway station serves the eastern suburbs of Runcorn in Cheshire, England and offers trains to Warrington and Manchester and to Chester and North Wales. Halton Transport bus services operate from the station to Runcorn Old Town via Halton Lea and to Widnes. The station is also connected via Arriva bus service to the main Runcorn railway station, which has train service to London, Birmingham, Crewe and Liverpool via the West Coast Main Line.

Dutton, Cheshire
Dutton is a civil parish and village within the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester in the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. It is located approximately 2 miles east of Runcorn. Dutton is on the river Weaver and is home to Dutton Hall which was built in 1513. A viaduct of 20 arches, each 63 feet in span, and 60 feet high, takes the Grand Junction railway over Dutton Bottom, across the valley of the Weaver.
Daresbury Laboratory
Daresbury Laboratory is a scientific research laboratory near Daresbury in Cheshire, England, which began operations in 1962 and was officially opened on 16 June 1967 as the Daresbury Nuclear Physics Laboratory by the then Prime Minister of United Kingdom, Harold Wilson. It is run by the Science and Technology Facilities Council with around three hundred full-time staff.

The project was originally conceived as a test bed for 4GLS, and consists of: A 350keV photoinjector laser. An 8.35MeV superconducting RF booster linac. A 35MeV superconducting RF main linac in which energy is recovered from used electron bunches and given to new bunches.

Synchrotron Radiation Source

The research facility provided synchrotron radiation to a large number (at one point 38) experimental stations and had an operating cost of approximately £20 million per annum. SRS had been operated by the Science and Technology Facilities Council.
