Lunar Society Moonstones
The Moonstones are a set of eight carved sandstone memorials to various members of the Lunar Society. Made in 1998, they can be viewed in the grounds of the Asda supermarket in Queslett, Great Barr, Birmingham, England. They are visible from the road, when driving up Queslett Road from the Old Horns roundabout toward the Scott Arms.
Old Oscott
Old Oscott is an area of Great Barr, Birmingham, England. The suburb forms a triangle bounded to the north by Pheasey, to the west by Perry Beeches, and to the east by Kingstanding. The Birmingham City Council ward that covers the area is called simply Oscott. The area has been known locally as "Old" Oscott since St. Mary's College, the Roman Catholic seminary, moved to a new site in an area that became known as New Oscott.
Queslett
Queslett is an area of Great Barr, Birmingham, England. The name has been in use since the 16th century. The first part means a Wood Pigeon, the second comes from the Anglo-Saxon for a small valley. The area was mostly developed with private housing from the 1930s onwards, and its centred around the A4041 Queslett Road between West Bromwich and Sutton Coldfield.
Witton Lakes
Witton Lakes are a pair of former drinking water reservoirs between the Perry Common and Erdington areas of Birmingham, England (not in nearby Witton). Two brooks, arising at Kingstanding and Bleak Hill, Erdington, respectively, feed first Witton Lakes, then overspill into Brookvale Park Lake, before reaching the River Tame. The brooks are natural; the lakes were created at the end of the 19th century to supply drinking water for Birmingham.
Perry Barr Reservoir
Perry Barr Reservoir is a covered drinking water reservoir, in north Birmingham, England. Built on the site of the former Perry Barr Farm, it is not, despite its name, in the modern Perry Barr area, but nearby Kingstanding, at grid reference SP083951. The reservoir is supplied by gravity from The Elan Valley, via Frankley Water Treatment Works and the trunk mains system. The reservoir holds 83 million litres of water and supplies areas such as Kingstanding, Perry Barr, Great Barr and Witton.
Maryvale Institute
The Maryvale Institute is a college of further and higher education, in Old Oscott, Great Barr, Birmingham, England. It specialises in the provision of part-time and distance learning courses to the lay faithful and ministers of the Roman Catholic Church. The College has existed in its current state since 1980, on the site of an earlier college, founded in 1794 for both the training of priests and the education of lay pupils.
Perry Bridge
Perry Bridge, also known as the Zig Zag Bridge, is a bridge over the River Tame in Perry Barr, Birmingham, England. Built in 1711, it is said to be the oldest surviving structure in Birmingham. It is a scheduled ancient monument and a Grade II listed building. The bridge was built, in the 18th century, of red sandstone in a packhorse style.
Pheasey
Pheasey is a residential area of Great Barr in the West Midlands of England. It is situated in the east of the Metropolitan Borough of Walsall and is located near to the Sutton Coldfield district of Birmingham. Prior to 1974, it was part of Aldridge-Brownhills Urban District. The area was predominantly developed for private housing in the 1930s and completed after the Second World War.
