Stakhanov is a city in the Luhansk Oblast of eastern Ukraine. The city is designated as its own separate raion (district) within the oblast. As of 2012 the population is around 122,000.
Pervomaisk, Luhansk Oblast
Pervomaisk is a city in Luhansk Oblast, Ukraine. Population is 43,082 (2001). Northeast of Pervomaisk, there is the static inverter plant of HVDC Volgograd-Donbass.

Іrmino is a city in Luhansk Oblast of Ukraine. Population is 13,053 (2001). From 1977 to 2010 the city was named Teplohirsk.
Kirovsk, Ukraine
Kirovsk is a city in Luhansk Oblast of Ukraine. Population is 35,199 (2001). Kirovsk was founded in 1764. Its history follows closely the history of industrial development in the Eastern Ukraine. The town grew when coal mines were set up in the area; reaching its peak size in the 1980s. The landscape around the town still has pyramid-shaped men made hills, they are the by-products of the coal mine development and make the area look somewhat surreal.
