Smyrna
Smyrna was an ancient city located at a central and strategic point on the Aegean coast of Anatolia. Due to its advantageous port conditions, its ease of defence and its good inland connections, Smyrna rose to prominence. The ancient city is located at two sites within modern İzmir, Turkey. İzmir Atatürk Sport Hall (Turkish: İzmir Atatürk Spor Salonu) is an indoor sport venue located in the district of Alsancak in İzmir, Turkey. The hall has a capacity for 3,000 people. Home of the basketball club Tuborgspor, it is the biggest indoor sport hall in İzmir, where competitions of basketball, volleyball and handball are held. İzmir Atatürk Sport Hall hosted basketball games of the Universiade 2005, which was held between August 11 and 21 2005 in İzmir.

U.S. responsibilities in the Izmir area began on September 8, 1952 with the activation of Allied Land Forces Southeast Europe and the arrival on October 14, 1953 of the Sixth Allied Tac AF at Sirinyer Garrison south of Izmir.
Halkapınar (İzmir Metro)
The Halkapınar Metro Station is a metro station on the Izmir Metro. The station was built in 1999 and opened in 2000. The station is a part of the Halkapınar Transportation Center where connections are available to the Turkish State Railways and ESHOT, İZULAŞ bus services. The İzmir Metro has a maintenance facility next to the station as well.
İzmir Alsancak Terminal
Alsancak Terminal or Alsancak Railway Station in İzmir is the second-oldest railway station in Turkey, after the Kemer Railway Station (also in İzmir), being completed in 1858. The station houses the headquarters of TCDD District 3 and is the largest station in Turkey by size. Alsancak station is one of the busiest stations in Turkey. The station was electrified in 2001, with 25 kV AC overhead wire.
