Atatürk Olympic Stadium
Atatürk Olympic Stadium (Turkish: Atatürk Olimpiyat Stadı) located in İkitelli, a district in the western outskirts of Istanbul, is the largest-capacity stadium of Turkey. The stadium is named after Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder and first President of the Republic of Turkey. Its construction began in 1999 and was completed in 2002. It was built for Turkey's failed bid for the 2008 Olympic Games that were ultimately awarded to Beijing. It cost about 140 million USD.

1509 Istanbul earthquake
The 1509 Istanbul earthquake, referred to as "The Lesser Judgment Day" by contemporaries, was an earthquake that occurred in the Sea of Marmara on September 10, 1509 at about 10 p.m.. The earthquake had an estimated magnitude of 7.2 ± 0.3 on the surface wave magnitude scale. Forty-five days of aftershocks followed the earthquake, as well as a tsunami. Over a thousand houses and 109 mosques were destroyed, and an estimated 10,000 people died.

Lake Büyükçekmece
Lake Büyükçekmece is a liman, formed at the point, where the river Karasudere flows into the Marmara Sea. Located in the south of Çatalca district west of Istanbul, Turkey, it is used as a freshwater reservoir. The lake's bar was reinforced in 1988 by a dam. The area of the lake is 28.47 km, it is 7 km long and 2 km wide. The maximum depth is 8.6 m following deepening works carried out by the State Hydraulic Works.

The Florya Metin Oktay Sports Complex and Training Center (Turkish: Florya Metin Oktay Tesisleri) is the training ground and academy base of the Turkish football club Galatasaray SK. The Florya training camp land was brought during the presidency of Suphi Batur, built and opened during Professor Ali Uras presidency and was expanded and improved during both Ali Tanriyar and Alp Yalman presidencies. It was opened on August 1, 1981.

Şamlar is a village in Başakşehir district of İstanbul Province, Turkey. It is about 15 kilometres northwest of Başakşehir. The population of Şamlar is 3448 as of 2010. The oldest building in the village is a mosque dated 1839.
