Burgazada
Burgazada, Burgazadası, or shortly Burgaz is the third largest of the Princes' Islands in the Sea of Marmara, near Istanbul. It is officially a neighbourhood in the Adalar district of Istanbul, Turkey. Burgaz is a common setting and even a major theme for writer Sait Faik Abasıyanık, where he also resided. Today, his residence is kept as a museum. In 2003 Burgaz suffered a terrible forest fire, losing 4 square kilometres of its entire woodland.
Heybeliada
Heybeliada or Heybeli Ada is the second largest of the Princes' Islands in the Sea of Marmara, near Istanbul. It is officially a neighborhood in the Adalar district of Istanbul, Turkey. The large Naval Cadet School overlooks the jetty to the left as you get off the ferry or seabus. There are two interesting pieces of architecture on the grounds of the school.
Halki seminary
The Halki seminary, formally the Theological School of Halki (Greek: Θεολογική Σχολή Χάλκης), was founded on 1 October 1844 on the island of Halki, the second-largest of the Princes' Islands in the Sea of Marmara. It was the main school of theology of the Eastern Orthodox Church's Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople until the Turkish parliament enacted a law banning private higher education institutions in 1971.
Kınalıada
Kınalıada (Greek: Πρώτη, Proti 'first') is an island in the Sea of Marmara; it is the closest of the Princes' Islands to Istanbul, Turkey, about 12 kilometres south. Administratively, it is a neighbourhood in the Adalar district of Istanbul. Kınalıada means "Henna Island" in Turkish, as the land has a reddish colour from the iron and copper that has been mined here. This is one of the least forested of the Princes' Islands.
Kaşık Island
Kaşık Island, (Turkish: Kaşık Adası, literally "Spoon Island"; Greek: Πίτα) is one of the nine islands consisting the Princes' Islands in the Sea of Marmara, near Istanbul. It is located between the islands of Burgazada and Heybeliada. Kaşık Adası is officially administered by Burgazada neighborhood in the Adalar district of Istanbul, Turkey.
Büyükada Greek Orthodox Orphanage
The Prinkipo Greek Orphanage (also known as Prinkipo Palace or Büyükada Greek Orphanage) is a historic 20,000-square-meter wooden building on Büyükada, one of the nine Princes' Islands off the coast of Istanbul, Turkey, in the Sea of Marmara. It is considered the largest wooden building in Europe and second largest in the world.
