Battle of Jacob's Ford
Jerusalem has been and is considered by many to be one of the holiest cities in the world. For this reason, Christians and Muslims fought for control of the Holy City over several centuries. Around 1095, Christians from Europe marched to the Holy Land to retake control of Jerusalem. By 1099, the Crusaders achieved their goal and captured Jerusalem from the Muslims.
Dubrovin Farm
Dubrovin Farm was one of the first farms in the Hulah Valley. It was established by Stanislav Dubrovin (1863–1967) who moved to Ottoman Syria with his family in 1903. Dubrovin left Astrakhan and settled in the north of the country near Yesod HaMa'ala. Dubrovin and his family were Subbotniks, Russian Christians who kept seventh-day Sabbath. After their conversion to Judaism, they took Hebrew names. Stanislav became "Yoav", and his wife became "Rachel".
Bnot Ya'akov Bridge
Bnot Ya'akov Bridge is a bridge across the Jordan River on Highway 91, straddling the border between Israel and the Israeli-occupied portion of the Golan Heights. The area around the bridge was settled in antiquity, and a river crossing there, known as Jacob's Ford, served as part of the regional route between central Israel and Syria, along the ancient Via Maris.
Mishmar HaYarden
This article is about the existing moshav. For the village destroyed in 1948, see Mishmar HaYarden (moshava). Mishmar HaYarden is a moshav in the Upper Galilee in northern Israel. It belongs to the Mevo'ot HaHermon Regional Council. It is located on Highway 91 between Mahanayim and Gadot. It was founded in the 1950s. It was named after Mishmar HaYarden (moshava), a destroyed settlement far away from this moshav, and unrelated to it.
Mishmar HaYarden (moshava)
Mishmar HaYarden was a moshava (Jewish settlement) that was established in the Upper Galilee in northern Israel during the First Aliyah. It was destroyed during the Israeli War of Independence in 1948. Its Hebrew name meant Guardian of the Jordan. The moshava was located on the road connecting Safed with Damascus west of the Bnot Ya'akov Bridge. It was first founded in 1884 as a private farm named "Shoshanat HaYarden" (Rose of the Jordan) by Mordecai Isaac Lubowsky.
