Berekhat Ram
Berekhat Ram;, (also spelled Berekhet Ram, Berechat Ram Braikhat Ram, Birkat Ram, the Ram Pool or Lake Ram) is a Palaeolithic site near Mas'adah, at the foot of Mount Hermon, in the Golan Heights. It is the findspot of the Venus of Berekhat Ram, a pebble allegedly worked by Homo erectus.
Venus of Berekhat Ram
The Venus of Berekhat Ram is a pebble found at Berekhat Ram on the Golan Heights in the summer of 1981 by archaeologist N. Goren-Inbar of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. An article by Goren-Inbar and S. Peltz (1995) claims it has been modified to represent a female human figure, identifying it as a possible artefact made by Homo erectus of the later Acheulean, in the early Middle Paleolithic.
Lake Ram
Lake Ram is a crater lake in the northeastern Golan Heights, near Mount Hermon. The only sources of the lake are rain water and an underground spring. The water does not leave the lake to any other body of water. The crater is a maar. It is a Palaeolithic site of the findspot of the Venus of Berekhat Ram, a pebble allegedly worked by Homo erectus.
Shouting Hill
The Shouting Hill is a hill in the Israeli controlled portion of the Golan Heights. The hill is situated near the Druze village of Majdal Shams in the area of the Golan that is occupied by Israel. During the Six Day War, Israel captured the majority of the heights. The Shouting Hill is located just close to the ceasefire line that separates Syrian controlled territory and the territory occupied by Israel. The Druze community members of the Golan Heights were separated after the war.
Mount Hermon ski resort
The Mount Hermon ski resort is situated on the south-eastern slopes of Mount Hermon, a few kilometers off the Israeli-Syrian ceasefire line, in the Israeli-occupied portion of the Golan Heights. The site is surrounded by the Hermon nature reserve. While the nature reserve is open year-round, the ski resort is open only at the peak of winter (usually January–March), when enough snow is accumulated on its ground.
