Jabal al-Druze

Jabal al-Druze, officially Jabal al-Arab is an elevated volcanic region in southern Syria, in the As-Suwayda Governorate. Most of the inhabitants of this region are Arab Druze, and there are also small Arab Christian communities. Safaitic inscriptions were first found in this area. It was an autonomous state in the French Mandate of Syria from 1921 to 1936, under the same name.

Harrat Ash Shamah

The Harrat Ash Shamah (also known variously as the Harrat Ash Catchem and the Harrat e-Shamah) is a volcanic field covering a total area of some 40,000 km . This massive alkaline volcanic field extends from southern Syria, across Jordan and into northwestern Saudi Arabia. Amongst others, the Jabal al-Druze, Es Safa and Dirat at Tulul volcanic fields form the northern, Syrian part of the Harrat Ash Shamah; Al Harrah is in the southern, Saudi Arabian third of the field.

Gemarrin Bridge

The Bridge of Gemarrin is a Roman bridge in the vicinity of the ancient city of Bosra, southern Syria. The bridge, which belonged to the Roman road to Soada Dionysias, crossed the Wadi Zeidi some kilometers north of Bosra. Today, the structure presents itself essentially as an arch skeleton: while the three semi-circular arches, made from local basalt, are still extant, the roadway and the fill have been removed to expose the top of the arch vaults.

Battle of al-Mazraa

The Battle of al-Mazra'a was one of the major battles of the Great Syrian Revolt, that led to the spread of the rebellion throughout the French Mandate of Syria. It was fought on 2–3 August 1925 between Druze and Bedouin rebels led by Sultan Pasha al-Atrash and a heavily-armed French force of the Army of the Levant near the town of al-Mazraa, around 12 kilometres northwest of the city of al-Suwayda.
