Maggia (river)
The Maggia is a river in the Swiss canton of Ticino. The springs are near the Cristallina mountain and the river runs through the Val Sambuco, the Val Lavizzara, and the Valle Maggia, and enters Lago Maggiore between Ascona and Locarno. The village Maggia is situated on the river. The river is used for hydroelectric power production, e.g. with the dams of Lago del Narèt and Lago del Sambuco near the sources. The Maggia river is a popular scuba diving spot due to its crystal clear waters.
Monte Ceneri transmitter
The Monte Ceneri transmitter was first established as the nationwide medium-wave radio transmission station for Italian-speaking Switzerland in 1933. Located on Monte Ceneri in Ticino, it broadcast on a frequency of 558 kHz.

Castelli di Cannero
The Castelli di Cannero are three rocky islets of Lake Maggiore in northern Italy. They are located off the shoreline of Cannero Riviera while administratively forming part of the Commune of Cannobio. They are known as castelli, or castles, in recognition of the ruined ancient fortifications which are found on two of them. Recent plans to restore one of the castles, the Rocca Vitaliana, and make it a tourist attraction have been opposed by environmental groups.
Brissago Islands
The Brissago Islands are a group of two islands located in the Swiss part of Lake Maggiore close to Ronco sopra Ascona and Brissago. Both island belong to the district of Locarno, in the canton of Ticino. San Pancrazio (also known as Grande Isola) is the larger and is well known for its botanical garden. On the smaller of the islands, known as Isolino, or Isola Piccola or Isola di Sant’Apollinare, the vegetation is allowed to develop naturally.

Giona (river)
The Giona is a ‘torrent’, or intermittent stream, which rises on the slopes of Monte Tamaro, in the Swiss canton of Ticino. After about 2 km it enters the Italian province of Varese, foming the Val Veddasca before entering Lake Maggiore at Maccagno. Its course passes through the communes of Indemini in Switzerland and Veddasca, Curiglia con Monteviasco, Dumenza and Maccagno in Italy.

Isorno (river)
The Isorno is an Italian and Swiss river, a tributary of the Melezzo Orientale. Its source is in Italy near Pioda di Crana. It passes through Bagni, a frazione of Craveggia, then entering Switzerland it flows through Onsernone, Mosogno, Isorno and Intragna, where it joins the Melezzo Orientale. Its valley, although easily reached from Lugano, Bellinzona, Domodossola and Locarno, is one of the wildest in Switzerland, and there is a proposal to institute a national park like that of Engadin.
Madonna del Sasso, Switzerland
The Madonna del Sasso is a sanctuary in Orselina above the city of Locarno in Switzerland. It is the principal sight and goal of pilgrimage in the city. The founding of the sanctuary goes back to a vision of the Virgin Mary that the Franciscan brother Bartolomeo d'Ivrea experienced in the night of 14/15 August 1480. The interior is highly decorated, and a platform gives a magnificent view of the city.
Locarno railway station
Locarno railway station (Italian: Stazione di Locarno) serves the city of Locarno, in the Canton of Ticino, Switzerland. However, the station is located within the adjacent municipality of Muralto, near the shore of Lake Maggiore. The border between the two municipalities runs along the Torrente Ramogna stream, a short distance to the south and west of the station. Since 1990, Locarno station has been divided into two distinct components, each served by a separately operated railway.

Locarno Airport

It is located in the area of Stallone, which is 7 kilometers from the Locarno City center. Three runways are present in the Airport, and one terminal too. The airport is accessible by road by the Cantonale Street which connects to Route 13, which leads to a highway which bypasses the city and many interchanges help to get on and off the highway.

The station is served by trains on line S10 of the Treni Regionali Ticino Lombardia (TILO), which operate every half hour between Bellinzona, Lugano and Chiasso, with some trains extending northwards to Airolo and southwards to Milan.
