Cabaret Voltaire (Zurich)
Cabaret Voltaire was the name of a nightclub in Zurich, Switzerland. It was founded by Hugo Ball, with his companion Emmy Hennings on February 5, 1916 as a cabaret for artistic and political purposes. Other founding members were Marcel Janco, Richard Huelsenbeck, Tristan Tzara, and Jean Arp. Events at the cabaret proved pivotal in the founding of the anarchic art movement known as Dada.

Grossmünster
The Grossmünster ("great minster") is a Romanesque-style Protestant church in Zurich, Switzerland. It is one of the three major churches in the city. The core of the present building near the banks of the Limmat River was constructed on the site of a Carolingian church, which was, according to legend, originally commissioned by Charlemagne. Construction of the present structure commenced around 1100 and it was inaugurated around 1220.
Fraumünster
The Fraumünster abbey (lit. in English: Lady Minster) in Zurich was founded in 853 by Louis the German for his daughter Hildegard. He endowed the Benedictine convent with the lands of Zurich, Uri, and the Albis forest, and granted the convent immunity, placing it under his direct authority.
Hans Waldmann (mayor)
Hans Waldmann (1435 – 6 April 1489) was mayor of Zurich and Swiss military leader. The son of a peasant in Zug, he married well and became Squire of Dubelstein. Waldmann lead the Confederates in the Burgundian Wars defeating Charles the Bold with an army estimated at 12,000 men.

Lindenhof
see Lindenhof (quarter) for the town quarter containing the Lindenhof. The Lindenhof in the old town of Zürich is the historical site of the Roman castle, and the later Carolingian Kaiserpfalz. It is situated on the Lindenhof hill, on the left side of the Limmat River at the Schipfe. In 1747, a 2nd century Roman tombstone was discovered at the site, bearing the oldest attestation of Turīcum, the Roman era name of Zürich, as STA[tio tio] TURIC[ensis ensis], at the time a tax collecting point.
St. Peter, Zurich
St. Peter is one of the four main churches of the old town of Zurich, Switzerland, besides Grossmünster, Fraumünster and Predigerkirche. Located next to the Lindenhof hill, site of the former Roman castle, it was built on the site of a temple to Iuppiter. An early church of 10 by 7 metres is archaeologically attested for the 8th or 9th century.
Altstadt (Zurich)
Altstadt (German for "old town") in the Swiss city of Zürich encompasses the area of the entire historical city before 1893, before the incorporation of what are now districts 2 to 12 into the municipality, over the period 1893 to 1934. Altstadt approximately corresponds to the area enclosed by the former city ramparts, and is today within the administrative area of the city called Kreis 1 (District 1).
Christoph Froschauer
Christoph Froschauer (ca. 1490 – 1 April 1564) was the first printer in Zürich, notably for printing the Froschauer Bible, the Zwinglian Bible translation. His workshop is the nucleus of the Orell Füssli publishing house. He learned the printer's trade with his uncle, Hans Froschauer, in Augsburg and came to Zürich in 1515. Working for one Hans Rüegger, he built a printing press.
Paradeplatz
The Paradeplatz is a square at the Bahnhofstrasse in downtown Zurich. The Paradeplatz tram stop is served by lines 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11 and 13. It is one of the most expensive pieces of real estate in Switzerland and has become synonymous with wealth and the Swiss banks, being the location of the headquarters of both UBS and Credit Suisse. The site of the square lay without the medieval city walls, and was incorporated into the town with the construction of the new ramparts in 1642.

Rennweg (Zurich)
Rennweg is a street and a tram stop in the old town of Zurich. In the Middle Ages, it was the main street of the upper town of Zurich, leading from the fortified Rennweg gate passing below the Lindenhof hill towards the town hall. The site of the Rennweg gate is at the current junction of the Rennweg with the Bahnhofstrasse, the Bahnhofstrasse itself following the course of the 13th century moat.
