Hisingen
Hisingen is the fourth-largest island of Sweden, with an area of 199 km, and the most populous, forming part of Gothenburg Municipality, Västra Götaland County. It is bordered by the Göta älv in the south and east, the Nordre älv in the north, and the Kattegat in the west. The northern part of the city of Gothenburg, with its harbours, industries and suburbs, is located on the island, which is divided between the two historical provinces of Västergötland and Bohuslän.
Gothenburg City Airport
Gothenburg City Airport or Göteborg City Airport, formerly (and still informally) known as Säve Flygplats, is Gothenburg's second international airport, located 5 NM north-west from the centre of Gothenburg on the island of Hisingen, Bohuslän, Sweden. It is located within the borders of Gothenburg Municipality, hence its name. Prior to the arrival of Ryanair in 2001, the airport had 9,000 passengers per year. 844,000 passengers flew from City Airport in 2008.
Southern Gothenburg Archipelago
The Southern Gothenburg Archipelago lies off the coast of Gothenburg, Sweden's second-largest city. It has 5,000 permanent and another 6,000 summer residents. The archipelago is completely car free. Transportations is carried out by means of cycles, delivery mopeds, electric cars and ferries. In the Norse sagas, it was called Elfarsker (the river islets), as the river Göta älv had its estuary there. The islands appear to have been famous as a location for holmgangar during the Viking Age.
Götheborg (ship)
Götheborg is a sailing replica of an 18th century Swedish East Indiaman. It is the world's largest operational wooden sailing vessel. The original sank off Gothenburg, Sweden on 12 September 1745 while approaching its home harbour after returning from her third voyage to China. All sailors survived, but the ship was lost. The built of the replica started in 1995. The hull was launched in 2003, and the rig was fully tested for the first time in 2005.

Stora Förö is a small island in the Southern Göteborg Archipelago of Sweden, which belongs to the Delfin summer home society. The first summer cottages were built here in the 1930s. The name Förö comes from times when the island was covered in pine trees.
Preemraff Göteborg
Preemraff Göteborg is an oil refinery located in the Swedish city of Gothenburg. Preem is the largest supplier of petroleum products in Sweden and its two refieneries, Preemraff Göteborg in Gothenburg and Preemraff Lysekil in Lysekil represent two-thirds of Sweden's refining capacity. The Gothenburg refinery is certified according to ISO 14001. The facility produces Liquified petroleum gas, Gasoline, Diesel and Heating oil for both the Swedish and foreign markets.
Majorna (district)
Majorna is a residential area in Gothenburg, Sweden. It is a part of the borough Majorna-Linné. It is located west of the city just outside the city centre, with Göta älv to the north, Masthugget and Slottsskogen to the east, Högsbo to the south and Älvsborg to the west. Majorna is an old area, originating from the times of Älvsborg castle before the foundation of Gothenburg in 1621. After the foundation of the city of Gothenburg, Majorna housed wharfs and other harbour-related business.
Älvsborg fortress
Älvsborg, also Elfsborg Fortress, is a large sea fortress in Rivö fjord, within modern Gothenburg, Sweden. Situated at the mouth of the Göta River, it served to protect medieval Sweden's only access to the North Sea and Atlantic Ocean and the nearby settlement of today's Gothenburg and its four predecessors. The original Old Älvsborg Fortress (Swedish: Älvsborgs fästning or Älvsborgs slott) was located on the mainland, on the southern shore of the estuary, above modern Klippan.
Älvsborg Bridge
The Älvsborg Bridge is a suspension bridge over Göta älv in Gothenburg, Sweden, which connects the north and the south part of the city. It was built in 1966 and designed by Sven Olof Asplund. The total length of the bridge is 933 metres and distance between the towers ("main span") is 417 metres, while the clearance below the bridge is 45 metres. The pylons are 107 metres tall making the bridge one of Gothenburg's most prominent landmarks.

Volvo Museum
The Volvo Museum is in Gothenburg, Sweden. It covers the development of Sweden's leading vehicle manufacturer Volvo, from the first ÖV 4 to the current cars, trucks, buses and other products. The museum also contains many other exhibits, including Gabrielsson’s and Larson’s joint desk from the pioneering years. There are also displays of Volvo Aero and Volvo Penta products. The museum is open daily except Mondays and public Swedish holidays.
Eriksberg, Gothenburg
Eriksberg is an area on Hisingen in Gothenburg where Eriksbergs Mekaniska Verkstads AB had their shipyard until bankruptcy in 1979. For over a century the area was dominated by shipbuilding but a crisis in the 1970s destroyed the industry. Since the collapse of the shipyards, the area has been rebuilt into Gothenburg's finest modern neighbourhood. The former machinery buildings have been renovated into a hotel with conference facilities.
Nordiska högskolan för folkhälsovetenskap
Nordiska högskolan för folkhälsovetenskap (NHV) is a shared northern educational institution in Gothenburg, Sweden, who educates health personnel on Master's and Doctorate level in addition to doing bigger research work. They are financed through the Swedish Département of Health and Social Security and the Nordic Council. NHV was founded in 1953, started its programmes on Master's level in 1978 and on doctorate level in 1987.
Torslandaverken
The Torslanda Works (or Torslandaverken in Swedish), is one of the largest production facilities of Volvo Cars and is located in Torslanda on the island of Hisingen, about 12 km north west of Gothenburg city centre. The plant turned 40 on April 24, 2004. under the motto "Increased capacity – for ever-higher quality."
Torslanda Airport
Torslanda Airport — served the city of Gothenburg, Sweden, as its main airport from 1923 to 1977, when the Gothenburg-Landvetter Airport was opened. After 1977, Torslanda air traffic was assumed by both Gothenburg City Airport (also known as Säve Airport), and Landvetter. Notably, a historically correct "setting" of Göteborg-Torslanda is available for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Frölunda Specialist Hospital
Frölunda specialist hospital located in Frölunda, right next to Frölunda torg, approximately nine kilometres south-west of central Gothenburg. The hospital primarily operate with elective care, with specialist in otolaryngology, neurology, gynaecology, orthopedic surgery, medicine, dermatology, ophthalmology, surgery, and radiography. The hospital was inaugurated in 1968 as a local hospital for people living in Tynnered, Frölunda, and Älvsborg.
Lundby, Gothenburg
Lundby is a suburb and borough of Gothenburg, Sweden. It is located in the central part of the Hisingen island, stretching along the northern shore of the Göta River. It is the original home of the dollhouse manufacturing company Lundby and the home of Volvo Trucks and Volvo Penta. There were 38 000 people residing in Lundby (on 1 January 2009) but it is expected to expand by many thousands over the coming years.

Frölunda Torg is a shopping centre in Gothenburg, Sweden. It is one of the largest shopping centres in Scandinavia, with approximately 200 shops and more than 10 million visitors in 2009. The shopping centre's total area is about 75,000 square metres. The companies housed in Frölunda Torg employ in total 1500 people and their total annual turnover is in excess of 1,6 billion kronor.
Lundby Old Church
The Lundby Old Church is a church in Lundby, a borough of Gothenburg, Sweden. It belongs to the parish of Lundby in the Diocese of Gothenburg. It is one of the seven preserved medieval churches in Gothenburg, and the only one of them representing Gothic architecture. It originates from the 14th century, but the bell tower had not been erected until 1634. The church has been renovated many times, most recently in 1998.

Rya Forest
The Rya Forest is a nature reserve in Gothenburg, Sweden. It is located on the Hisingen island, on the northern bank of the Göta River. It has an area of 17 hectares. Established in 1928, it is the oldest nature reserve in Västra Götaland County. The reserve lies in the middle of a busy industrial area, close to oil refineries and the Ryaverket sewage treatment plan. In spite of that, it displays a diverse flora and fauna, typical for a marsh forest, alder being the most common tree.
