Järfälla Municipality
Järfälla Municipality (Järfälla kommun) is a municipality in Stockholm County in east central Sweden, and is considered a suburb of Stockholm. Its seat is located in Jakobsberg, part of the Stockholm urban area. Järfälla has not been amalgamated with other municipalities in the two local government reforms carried out during the 20th century. The Stäket area in the north was, however, added in 1952. It is located about 20 km north of Stockholm, with a part situated by the shore of Lake Mälaren.
Jakobsberg
Jakobsberg is a suburban area (pop. 24,046) within Stockholm urban area, and the seat of Järfälla Municipality, Stockholm County in Sweden. Jakobsberg, Järfälla's commercial and administrative centre, grew up around the railway. In the 1940s, blocks of flats were built and the municipal council moved its offices here. Jakobsberg gradually became the centre of the municipality and now has a population of 24,046.
Almarestäket
Almarestäket, or Stäket, is a strait at the inlet of Lake Mälaren in mid-east Sweden. A fortress existed there between about 1370 and 1517, also named Almarestäket. A place mentioned as Stocksund by Old Norse author Snorre Sturlasson was once believed to be located here, but is now believed to have been located in Norrström, 2 km to the west.
Görväln House
Görväln House is a manor house at Järfälla Municipality in Stockholm County in Sweden. Görväln House is located at Görväln, a bay of lake Mälaren. The manor is since 2008 used as a hotel and restaurant. Görväln House is documented from the 1460s, when it was two farms, owned by the Archdiocese of Uppsala. After the Protestant Reformation in 1520, Görväln became a kronohemman, owned by King Johan III until 1571, when Johan III gave it away to the nobleman Antonius de Palma and his family.
Kallhäll
Kallhäll is a neighbourhood in Järfälla Municipality, Stockholm County. It is a suburban part of Stockholm urban area with a population of 12.000 inhabitants as of 2011 (including Stäket). Kallhäll started as an industrial suburb when the industrialist Erik Bolinder decided to move his Bolinders Mechanical Shops to Kallhäll from Kungsholmen in central Stockholm. Housing for employees was built, thus expanding Kallhäll.
