Motala Municipality
Motala Municipality (Motala kommun) is a municipality in Östergötland County in southeast Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Motala. In 1971 Motala Municipality was formed by the amalgamation of the City of Motala with some of the adjacent rural municipalities. Three years later more entities were added, among them the former City of Vadstena. In 1980 a new Vadstena Municipality was split off.
Vadstena Municipality
Vadstena Municipality (Vadstena kommun) is a municipality in Östergötland County in southeast Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Vadstena. The old City of Vadstena was during the nation-wide local government reform of the 1970s merged into Motala Municipality in 1974. This "marriage" was unsuccessful and a "divorce" was soon agreed upon and in 1980 the present municipality was created. It contains, however, 12 original units.

Orlunda radio transmitter
The Orlunda longwave transmitter was a longwave broadcast facility in central Sweden which broadcast Sveriges Radio Programme 1 from 1962 to 1991. The facility is currently in use as a museum.
Motala longwave transmitter
The Motala longwave transmitter is a broadcasting station for longwave, established in 1927 in Motala, Sweden. Its aerial is of the T-type spun between two free standing steel framework towers, which still exist today. The transmitter was in service until 1962, when the new Orlunda longwave transmitter went in service. In 1991 the Swedish broadcasting company shut down its longwave transmitter.
Bjälbo
Bjälbo is a small village in Mjölby Municipality, Östergötland, Sweden. The medieval House of Bjelbo had a church and a manor house at Bjälbo. Today the church tower is preserved. In 1173, King Kol Sverkerson was killed in a battle at Bjälbo.
Boren (Sweden)
Boren, is a lake in Östergötland, east of Motala, 73 m above sea level. It covers an area of 28 km² and is at most 14 meters deep. It forms a part of the Göta Canal and has given its name to Borensberg.
Östergötland Runic Inscription 165
Östergötland Rune Inscription 165 is a runestone located between Vårfrukyrkan (English: the Church of Our Lady) and the town square in Skänninge. It is made of grey granite and is 230 cm tall. On the front of the runestone is the first part of the text, up until the word "suni" . It continues on the left side until the end of the text. The signature of the carver can be found on the right side.
Östergötland Runic Inscription 179
The runestone known as Östergötland Rune Inscription 179 or Ög 179, as listed in the Rundata catalog, stands on the east side of the Vadstena Abbey in Vadstena, Sweden. The stone is tinted red and is about 193 cm in height. The inscription is classified as being carved in runestone style Fp. This is the classification for runic bands that have attached serpent or beast heads depicted as seen from above.

Charlottenborg Castle

Charlottenborg slott, is a country house or manor house rather than a castle, on the shores of Motala ström, Östergötland, Sweden. The house was built in the mid 17th century by Ludvig Wierich Lewenhaupt and named in honour of his wife, Charlotte von Hohenlohe-Neuenstein. Charlottenborg has been home to both Adam Ludwig Lewenhaupt and Daniel Fraser.

Ulvåsa
Ulvåsa, or Ulfåsa, is an mansion by lake Boren outside Motala in Östergötland, Sweden. The construction of the present mansion began in the 16th century. In the early 19th century a third floor was added and it got its present architecture. The medieval Ulvåsa was situated a few kilometers west of the present mansion. Today, there are ruins left of the manor where Saint Bridget of Sweden lived most of her life.
Motala Church
Motala Church is situated in central Motala, in the province of Östergötland, Sweden. The oldest parts of the church were built in the 13th century. The present church was built 1772-1774. The tower was added in 1844. Engineer Daniel Fraser is buried outside the church.
Birgittas udde
Birgittas udde ("Birgitta's Point") is situated on the south shore of lake Boren, Motala, Sweden. Medieval ruins of the Ulvåsa Manor House where St Birgitta lived most of her life. Next to the point, lies the modern Ulvåsa Castle.

Motala Motor Museum is a museum in Motala harbour, Sweden. The museum opened in 1995 and could be described as a "nostalgic museum". Over 200 vehicles; cars, mopeds, bicycles and 300 radios and TVs are displayed.
