El-Kurru
El-Kurru was one of the royal cemeteries used by the Nubian royal family. Reisner excavated the royal pyramids. Most of the pyramids date to the early part of the Kushite period, from Alara of Nubia (795 - 752 BC) to King Nastasen (335 - 315 BC). The area is divided in to three parts by two wadis. The central section seems to be the oldest and contains several tumulus type tombs that predate the Kingdom of Napata.
Zuma, Sudan
Zuma is a village and burial ground about 25 miles downstream from Jebel Barkal in what is now Sudan. It lies about 10 kilometres south of El-Kurru, in the Napatan Region, on the right side of the Nile. The cemetery was visited several times by researchers in the last two hundred years, but there were only brief descriptions written, and no excavations. A plan was drawn up during the expedition of Karl Richard Lepsius.
