Francisco Goya
Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes (30 March 1746 – 16 April 1828) was a Spanish romantic painter and printmaker regarded both as the last of the Old Masters and the first of the moderns. Goya was a court painter to the Spanish Crown, and through his works was both a commentator on and chronicler of his era. The subversive imaginative element in his art, as well as his bold handling of paint, provided a model for the work of later generations of artists, notably Manet, Picasso and Francis Bacon.
Madrid Arena
Madrid Arena is an indoor arena located in the city of Madrid, at the fairgrounds in the Casa de Campo, just minutes from downtown. Built from the old Rocódromo, the pavilion has been designed by Spanish architects Estudio Cano Lasso who designed this versatile building in 2001 to host sporting events, commercial, cultural and leisure activities. The pavilion was sponsored by the company Telefónica for what was also known by the name of Telefónica Arena.
Vicente Calderón Stadium
The Vicente Calderón Stadium is the home stadium of La Liga football club Atlético Madrid and is located in the Arganzuela district of Spanish capital Madrid. The stadium was originally called the Manzanares Stadium, but this was later changed to the Vicente Calderón Stadium, after the famous Atlético club president. The seats are laid out in red and white stripes, the colours of Atlético's shirts. The stadium is located in the heart of Madrid, on the banks of the Manzanares.

Rafael del Pino (businessman)
Rafael del Pino y Moreno (and family) (born 10 November 1920 in Madrid, Spain; died 14 June 2008 in Madrid) was one of the wealthiest men in Europe. He had a net worth of approximately 8.6 billion US dollars in 2007. Del Pino founded the construction company Ferrovial in 1952, which became one of Spain's largest builders. He stepped down as President of Ferrovial in 2000, passing on the position to his son, Rafael del Pino Calvo-Sotelo, who now heads the business.
Manzanares Park
Manzanares Park is a large, 650 Ha. park in the south of Madrid, Spain. It follows the Manzanares River, backbone of the park, for fifteen km between the Casa de Campo and the town of Getafe The first part (Primer Tramo) of the park was inaugurated on April 29, 2003. The rest of the Park is under construction. The most significant areas of the finished part are: The Green Square (Plaza Verde), a wooden amphitheatre structure.

Magerit
Magerit is the name of the one of the most powerful supercomputers in Spain. It also reached the second best Spanish position in the TOP500 list of supercomputers. This computer is installed in CeSViMa, a research center of the Technical University of Madrid. Magerit was first installed in 2006 and reached the 9th fastest in Europe and the 34th in the world, the second best position of a Spanish supercomputer in the list. It also reached the 275th position in the first Green500 list published.
Supercomputing and Visualization Center of Madrid
The Supercomputing and Visualization Center of Madrid (CeSViMa) also called Madrid Supercomputing and Visualization Center (In Spanish, Centro de Supercomputación y Visualización de Madrid) depends on the Computer Science Faculty of the Technical University of Madrid. This center houses Magerit, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Spain. This center is a member of the Spanish Supercomputing Network, the Spanish e-Science Network and the Madrid Laboratories and Infraestructures Network.
Cuatro Vientos Airport
Madrid-Cuatro Vientos Airport, also known as Cuatro Vientos Airport, is the oldest Spanish airport and one of the three civil airports of Madrid along with Madrid-Barajas and Torrejón Air Base. The airport is located 8 km south-west of the city down-town. The name "Cuatro Vientos" translates into English as "Four Winds. " Cuatro Vientos was originally an air base, which later became also a civil airport.
Carabanchel Prison
Carabanchel Prison was constructed by political prisoners after the Spanish Civil War between 1940 and 1944 in the Madrid's neighbourhood of Carabanchel. It was one of the biggest prisons in Europe until its closure in 1998. The structure followed the panopticon model devised by Jeremy Bentham in 1785.

Parque del Oeste
The Parque del Oeste is a park of the city of Madrid situated between the Autovía A-6, the Ciudad Universitaria de Madrid and the district of Moncloa. Before the 20th century, the land that the park currently occupies was the main landfill of the city. The park is the initiative of Alberto Aguilera, the mayor of the city at the beginning of the 20th century, who in 1906 requested the layout of a place for walking and relaxation by landscape artist Celedonio Rodrígáñez.
Zoo Aquarium de Madrid
The Madrid Zoo Aquarium is a 20-hectare zoo and aquarium located in the Casa de Campo in Madrid, Spain. The Zoo is owned by the city, but is managed by the international entertainment operator Parques Reunidos. Opened in 1770, it is one of the largest zoos in Spain and one of the few zoos in the world that houses Giant Pandas. The zoo is a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) and the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA).
British Cemetery in Madrid
The British Cemetery in Madrid was opened in 1854 in the Carabanchel district of Madrid, Spain, and the first burials took place that year. Few burials take place in the cemetery today because it is full, but there is provision for the interment of cremated remains.
Puente de los Franceses (Madrid)
The Puente de los Franceses (Bridge of the French) railway viaduct is located in Madrid, Spain. Comprising five semi-circular brick skew arches, it was built in the second half of the 19th century to carry the railway line from the north across the River Manzanares.

Siege of Cuartel de la Montaña
The Siege of Cuartel de la Montaña was the two-day siege of military barracks which marked the failure of the uprising against the Second Spanish Republic in Madrid, Spain on 18–20 July 1936 at the start of the Spanish Civil War. The bulk of the security forces in Madrid remained loyal to the government and, supported by workers' militias, crushed the uprising.
