Baix Empordà
Baix Empordà ("Lower Empordà") is a comarca (county) in Catalonia, Spain, one of the two into which Empordà was divided in the comarcal division of 1936. It is popularly known as L'Empordanet ("the Little Empordà").
Castle of Púbol
The Castle of Púbol (or Gala Dalí Castle, in Catalan Castell de Púbol or Castell Gala Dalí) is located in Púbol, in the comarca of Baix Empordà, Girona, Catalonia. It was the home to surrealist painter Salvador Dalí and his wife Gala (she is buried at the castle). Dalí bought the castle in 1969. It has been open to the public since 1996. In 1984, a fire broke out at the Castle in Dalí's bedroom under unclear circumstances.
Púbol
Púbol is a small town located in the comarca (county) of Baix Empordà, in the province of Girona, Catalonia, Spain. The artist Salvador Dalí lived at the Castle of Púbol; in 1982, he was named "Marquis of Dalí of Pubol" (spa. , "Marqués de Dalí de Pubol"). In fact Salvador Dali did not live there, he bought the castle for his wife, Gala, who lived there and granted him to visit her, only when she wanted.
Llafranc
Llafranc is one of three coastal towns belonging to the municipality of Palafrugell, province of Girona, Spain, the other two being Calella de Palafrugell and Tamariu. It is part of the Costa Brava, the coastal region of northeastern Catalonia, in the comarca of Baix Empordà. Many domestic tourists come from nearby Barcelona, while the international tourists come from a whole range of countries, especially the Netherlands, England, France, and more recently the United States.
Aigua Blava
Aigua Blava is a small bay on the Costa Brava, Girona, Catalonia near Begur and Palafrugell with a small beach (busy in the summer months) and a few mainly seafood restaurants. It is a popular mooring place for sailing and motor boats. Overlooking the bay on one side is a large Parador Hotel situated high on a clifftop. On the other side of the bay is Fornells.
Tamariu
Tamariu is one of three coastal towns belonging to the municipality of Palafrugell, province of Girona, Spain, the other two being Calella de Palafrugell and Llafranc. It is part of the Costa Brava, the coastal region of northeastern Catalonia, in the comarca of Baix Empordà. It is situated about 70 mi south of the border with France in a quiet and secluded bay of the Costa Brava close to the nearby inland towns of Palafrugell and Begur.
Begur, Spain
Begur is a municipality in the comarca of the Baix Empordà in Catalonia, Spain. Begur has 3,986 inhabitants (according to the census of 2005). It is an important tourist attraction in the Baix Empordà. During the summer, the population can exceed 40,000 people. Despite of its touristic character, the village has important historical remnants that go back in early history. The castle of Begur is a good example of medieval remains. The castle was constructed in the 16th and 17th centuries.
S'Agaró
s'Agaró is an upmarket resort on the Costa Brava between Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Castell-Platja d'Aro in Spain. In the early 1920s Josep Ensesa Gubert, the son of a successful Girona industrialist, persuaded his father to buy the land between the bay at Sant Pol and the long beach at Sa Conca north of Sant Feliu de Guixols. The area didn't even have a name, so the family chose to call it after the Agaro stream that ran through it.
Fornells, Catalonia
Fornells is a small bay in the Costa Brava, Catalonia, northern Spain, lying between Sa Tuna and Tamariu and close to Aigua Blava bay. It was formerly mainly a fishing village and, whilst there is still some fishing activity There is a marina and two tiny beaches as well as the larger “Platja Fonda” nearby, where the Torras i Arruga family has several luxury states.
Calella de Palafrugell
Calella de Palafrugell is one of three coastal towns belonging to the municipality of Palafrugell, province of Girona, Spain, the other two being Llafranc and Tamariu. It is part of the Costa Brava, the coastal region of northeastern Catalonia, in the comarca of Baix Empordà. Calella de Palafrugell is a small holiday resort and fishing village near Palafrugell and a short distance along the coast from Llafranc.
Sa Riera
Sa Riera, Catalunya, Spain is a fishing village and holiday resort situated in a tranquil and secluded bay of the Costa Brava close to the nearby inland towns of Palafrugell and Begur. It can be reached by road from Begur and Pals and there is also a pleasant walk around the cliffs from Platja de Pals, the next resort along the coast.
Peratallada
Peratallada is a town in the municipality of Forallac, in the county of Baix Empordà, in Catalonia, Spain. It is located 22 km east of Girona. Its name is derived from pedra tallada, meaning 'carved stone'. Declared a historic-artistic monument, most of the buildings are built from stone carved from the fosse or moat which still encircles parts of this small fortified medieval town.
Llofriu
Llofriu (name of Germanic origin) is an aggregate of the town of Palafrugell, in Catalonia. As of 2005, it has 294 inhabitants. The parish church of St. Fruitós, as mentioned in a testament from 1121, was dependent on the priory of Santa Anna of Barcelona until the seizure (first third of the nineteenth century). The economy is based primarily on agriculture and livestock, although the majority of its people work today in Palafrugell, the service sector.

Formigues Islands
Not to be confused with Formigas, part of the Azores archipelago. The Formigues Islands are an archipelago consisting of 16 small islands located three miles from the port of Palamós, Girona Province, Spain. They lie facing the beach of Calella and Cap Roig. A lighthouse is located on the island of Formiga Gran (41º53'N 03º11'E). The islands are sometimes covered by waves when the sea is rough. The name of the islands is derived from the Catalan word for “ant,” referring to their size.
