San Andrés, Santa Cruz de Tenerife
San Andrés is a village located on the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands (Spain). It is located 10 km north of the capital city Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in a coastal area by the Anaga mountains. It is administratively part of the municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The village is situated on a mountain slope with an urban area located near the valley and the beach. San Andrés is one of the oldest villages of the Canary Islands, and was founded around 1497.
Battle of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (1797)
The Battle of Santa Cruz de Tenerife was an amphibious assault by the Royal Navy on the Spanish port city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the Canary Islands. Launched by Rear-Admiral Horatio Nelson on 22 July 1797, the assault was defeated, and on 25 July the remains of the landing party withdrew under a truce with the loss of several hundred casualties.
Assault on Cadiz (1797)
The Assault on Cadiz was a part of a protracted naval blockade of the Spanish port of Cadiz by the Royal Navy, which comprised the siege and the shelling of the city as well as an amphibious assault on the port itself from June to July 1797. After the battle of Cape Saint Vincent the British fleet led by Lord Jervis and Sir Horatio Nelson had appeared in the Gulf of Cadiz. During the first days of June the city was bombarded, but causing slight damage to the Spanish batteries, navy and city.
Battle of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (1706)
The Battle of Santa Cruz de Tenerife was a minor military action of the War of the Spanish Succession during which an English fleet of 13 ships under the command of Admiral John Jennings attempted unsuccessfully to seize the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Jennings previously relied on the English triumphs in the Iberian Peninsula demanding recognition for the sovereignty of Charles II of England over the Canary Islands, but their offers were rejected.
Battle of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (1657)
The Battle of Santa Cruz de Tenerife was a military operation in the Anglo-Spanish War (1654–1660) in which an English fleet under Admiral Robert Blake attacked a Spanish treasure fleet that had already landed the treasure at Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the Spanish Canary Islands. Most of the Spanish merchantmen were scuttled and the remainder were burnt by the English.

Plaza de España (Spain Square), is the largest square in the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the Canary Islands. The square is located in the centre of town, just metres north of the Auditorio de Tenerife. This square is considered one of the "main squares" of the island of Tenerife, together with the Plaza del Cristo de La Laguna in San Cristóbal de La Laguna and the Plaza de la Patrona de Canarias in Candelaria.

In the square stands the monument of Triunfo de la Candelaria, also called the Obelisk of La Candelaria, which is one of the major sculptural monuments of the city, and is dedicated to the Virgin of Candelaria, the patroness of the Canary Islands, which is named this square.
